my ibook dvd-rom has broke,is any products can replace it?

how much it cost if ask people service?

should be a lot... just get a third party external dvd-burner... but won't be able to burn using disk utility and if you use DVD Studio or iDVD ... if i am not wrong.. this appz only use apple supported drives...

useing external driver for press"C" for boot up my mac.

by right it should be possible.... i think the LG ones are more preferable... i can't say i am 100% sure about booting it up using all brands of external burners...if you hold option key during startup and you are able to see your loaded CD then you should be able to boot up...i think...

but i have experience with some other odd brands like sony internal drives that did not boot up successfully..
