[WTSuggest] Open new section for store sales

I feel that Garage Sales and the related subsections should be for personal sales only. Dealers that are selling (not bulk order) often clog up the forum with their topics. I'm not targeting any particular dealer but it's quite a hassle to search for 2nd hand items without inadvertently clicking on those dealers' topics. So I suggest that a new section for Dealer Stores should be opened.

If the issue is about 2nd-hand items, perhaps it would be better to discriminate used vs new items?

If not mistaken they can have a store at price and dealer section but then they are not allowed to post in garage sales.

let's make this easy? I think it's too complicated to purposely open a new section for it.
Why don't admin add a Stores Tag instead?

A tag would be a good solution but not every dealer will comply by it. Also, is it possible to filter search results by tag?
Not aiming at anyone in particular but observe the number of threads under Garage Sales by karom, ngbh, vCool, and other successful dealers and you'll know what I mean.

Go to Garage Sales, Tick the "Dealer" Tag and filter it. Voila, you can see Dealer thread only. Isn't that a simple solution?? Of course, 'Dealer' Tag are specially given to thread that is authorized by mod/admin. Else, everyone will gonna abuse the use of tag. That's if wkkay agree in adding another tag in garage sales instead of purposely open a section for them.(else, Price and Dealer Guide forum will be useless.)

No. Eg I want to buy 2nd hand logitech items so I search for "logitech" in Garage Sales. You get a list of search results but the tag filtering is not available.

This might be a related suggestion, since it is also about trade zone: I would like to suggest to make [WTS], [WTB] or [WTA] tags available and can be selected when a new trade topic is made in the trade zone, just like the available "Topic Tag" which makes the traders compulsory to select one category before the thread is posted up. By doing this, the moderating team or any helpful forummers would not need to remind those traders who have forgotten to tag their topic? Less hassle it seems and it is better for others to browse through the trade zone site because it looks more systematic. This post has been edited by fruitie: Dec 5 2007, 08:17 PM

Brother, if the 'Stores' tag is being used widely and uncontroled, this is call abuse as anyone without proof also can claim they got own store la. Believe me. Not many of us in Garage sales have their own stores to sell things. Filter it and search one thru lo.. Anyway, it's just an effort to find the things we want to buy and make a survey thru the seller. Else, you'll end up crying and whining in Dispute Zone.

Actually if you read my posts properly, I am trying to avoid these "dealers" who sell in bulk over garage sales, whether they have a brick and mortar premise or not.

QUOTE(Discrucio Anima @ Dec 4 2007, 06:21 PM) I feel that Garage Sales and the related subsections should be for personal sales only. The rules actually does state that business and shops are not allowed to sell at Garage Sales (LYN Classifieds is a different matter). We have been lax in enforcing this rule mainly because its hard to spot infringement and partly because users do benefit from their sales here as well. We'll be thinking of a solution to this but at the moment I don't believe there are too many incidents of businesses selling here.

separating sellers who sell USED ITEMS and NEW ITEMS does sound good too rite peeps?
the "GARAGE SALES" term itself is for used items purpose.

My bad New item and used item 'tag' is a bit "Weird" for me to be put in Garage Sales. But as RBR claimed, I also personally feel that there's not much incident yet to happen in the section itself. P/S : Actually, adding new or old item tag is more precise than opening an section. Filtering function is much better than search function itself. But then again, search result can't be filtered. I guess I have to say "Put more effort on searching what you want to buy by browsing one by one" eh?(I did that during the time I try to bought 2 k700i. And guess what, After 2-3 days browsing, I get the good deals among all.)

We already offer member stores in the Price & Dealer Guides section for legitimate shops to set up a 'helpdesk and promotion' area. Its unlikely that we'll be giving out member store sections altogether because thats not what we are.
