hey i have an amp with a built in distortion. it makes a buzzing sound whenever i use it
when i set the tone to minimum on the guitar, there's no buzzing.

so is it possible that i buy a distortion pedal, and use the clean channel, hook it to the pedal..
would it still have buzzing sound?

Well if you get a pedal, you will probably get a better distortion tone... However its still up to the limitations of your amp.

Even if you have a decent amp and good pedal, you MAY still experience some noise at high gains...

It could be picking up noise from your fluroscent lights or tv or PC monitor (CRT type) or even stray radio waves in the atmosphere. If you are playing near these, try to move away from them. Try pluggin your amplifier to another power socket (in case of a noisy power outlet), or chagne the power cable (grounding issues).
