Iphone OTB firmware 1.1.1, Modem firmware 04.01.13_G, Itune 7.5, unlock with Anysim 1.1. Tested with Digi and Maxis.
The phone works normal, only the system SMS unreadable. I tried the "SMS fix" program and the SMS from Maxis is now readable. But the phone became unstable and keep losing signal. In the end there is no signal at all. No incoming and outgoing call available. SMS also dead.
Did some research on Internet, some suspect the modem (baseband) firmware corrupted. So I attempt to restore the iphone. Unfortunately, the restore actually upgraded the iphone to firmware 1.1.2 + 04.02.13_G. I was stuck with 1.1.2 and had done some extensive research on the Internet.
I tried to revert back 1.1.1 and even downgrade the baseband back to 04.01.13_G. But the phone functions never work again.
I tried to upgrade to 1.1.2 + 04.02.13_G, downgrade 1.1.1, unlock with Anysim 1.2.1u, install Oktoprep, upgrade to 1.1.2. But the phone functions still never recover.
I was quite sure it is the modem firmware problem because when a non AT&T sim is inserted, after a while the modem firmware info disappears from "setting-general-about" page.
My question to all the experts here are: - 1. What did I miss? 2. Anyone with similar experience? 3. Did Apple alter my iphone in anyway when I do the upgrade to 1.1.2?
Thank you for reading this, any constructive info is greatly appreciated.
========Update 08DEC2007========== Sorry for not updating the post. Been busy lately. My iphone problem still not solved. I deleted the baseband of 04.02.13_G and restore down to 1.0.2 and virginize the phone. I the restore to 1.1.2 and restore down to 1.1.1, unlock, oktoprep and updated to 1.1.2. The phone function returned for about an hour then cannot call in/out again.
New question:
1. Does the jailbreak of 1.1.2 do the patch of lockdownd already or do I have to manually replace it with a patch version?
2. My itune is 7.5, could that be the cause of failure?

QUOTE(vassalle @ Dec 2 2007, 12:43 AM) I suggest that you read carefully the steps in this thread, especially the part where it asks you to restore / update. It might get a bit confusing. http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/557614If you actually managed to have 1.1.2, unlocked offcourse, system SMS should be readable. I can vouch for that as i'm currently on 1.1.2 after following the instructions from that thread. Thanks for the advice. I will do the update one more time just to be sure. My no signal no call problem actually exist both on 1.1.1 and 1.1.2. I am worry I might have corrupted the NVRAM.

QUOTE(mugenfoo @ Dec 8 2007, 05:24 PM) if you use the 6MB version of the 1.1.2 jailbreak app, then it will also insert AppTap installer, OpenSSH, the patched lockdownd file and the bunch of files for youtube operation. Thank for the info. I check my 1.1.2 Jailbreak java application is 6.5MB after unzip. AnySim 1.2.1u runs and reports success. But my phone still get bricked (no service) after about 30mins. I have no more ideas. No I will just try another virginization and reinstall the baseband again. I have been doing this one time too many.

QUOTE(gpsp @ Dec 9 2007, 06:26 PM) Go out of the house where the signal is stronger, go to Settings -> Carrier -> what do you get? Error? Have you try other Telco provider too? how about when you restart your phone? do u still got this "no service" symptom immediately or after some time. When you revirginize your phone at 1.0.2 (virginize to 3.14.xx bb), then upgrade to 1.1.2(new BB v4.12.x), downgrade to 1.1.1 then 1.0.2, after this, jailbreak/activate, and try to run the AnySim1.2.1. Make sure that the phone is fully unlock and function as it should be. Of coz making sure the "No service" symptoms is not there after 1 day, then attempt to move upto 1.1.1 then 1.1.2 with all the necessary steps. Signal is the same indoor and outdoor - no signal. Tried with digi and maxis sim card. Setting -> Carrier -> shows error then exit by itself. When restarting phone, no service appears immediately follow by signal bar showing no bar and no carrier name appears.
Are you suggestng I use 1.0.2 firmware with 04.02.13_G baseband? In that case I should use anySIM 1.2.1u?
Thank you for trying to help? This post has been edited by techhuan: Dec 13 2007, 04:16 AM

QUOTE(mugenfoo @ Dec 15 2007, 03:56 PM) do a "DFU restore" .... this combined with iEraser and the proper secpacks, is the holy grail of Firmware downgrades and iPhone un-brickings. Amen. So should I run ieraser first then restore in DFU mode to 1.0.2 or the other way arround?
