My friends bought a family pack for Leopard OSX and they decided to share together..
They asked me whether wanna join it or not..
It only cost me RM160
Is it worth it to get my iMac installed Leopard for RM160 ?
Will it get it cheaper next time , sifus ? smile.gif

Worth it, just remember to rip yourself 1 copy or see how who will the one holding on to it smile.gif

Price will drop but not so soon.. it depends on how long are you willing to wait that to happen?

Wah, so reasonable? My friend share his family pack, he sell half price (50%) off the normal one on the shelves (RM509).

Is Leopard worth it - Yes and No

Yes - if you want new features which are amazing. There are tons of them

No - Its not really a major upgrade. If Tiger can do your job for you there is no need of an upgrade

The Family Pack Software License Agreement allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple software on up to a maximum of five (5) Apple-labeled computers at a time as long as those computers are located in the same household and used by persons who occupy that household. By "household" we mean a person or persons who share the same housing unit such as a home, apartment, mobile home, or condominium, including student members who are primary residents of that household but reside at a separate on-campus location. This license does not extend to business or commercial users.

I applaud you good nature, but unless you fit in the term 'household' above, what you're doing is essentially 'illegal' to Apple. If that's the case, why bother paying for it? smile.gif

I don't quite understand what you mean

Can you copy the CD = yes , you can make a fine Carbon copy of it. Dont worry , its just taht it would not boot on hackintoshes.

Is it legal to do so = No

There you go. Honestly , I think its better to fork out for Leopard

EDIT :

It does not matter what relationship....as long you guys live in the same place. Thats all

The legality is debatable. I think I read somewhere about Limited Fair Use that allows someone to copy a copyrighted data for backup purposes only.

in that case, you are breaking the "Terms of Use".

on the other hand, Apple is not enforcing the license... so go ahead.

Sure, Apple's term and conditions are not laws. Do whatever you want with it.

It's not legal, it's only legal for within the household. Then again, legality is not really a concern with most Malaysians.

And you are not in any position to make that statement, your words against what's printed in black & white by an international company, guess who should anyone listen to?

Anyway the moment someone pays for a product, they are entering into a contract, which is binding, and naturally whatever terms and conditions that comes with the product is part of the contract.

Like civic98 says, if you're not going to follow the T&C set by Apple, why pay for it? It's not like you're conforming to it anyways.

There is difference between breaking the laws and bending the laws. Same goes as you dare to escape not paying your samans but you dare not rob a bank.

I agreed with Voxe.

You know what, just go live with your friend for a night. You are now in the SAME household to share the family pack. Go install Leopard on that night.

Problem solved?

Either breaking or bending the law is NOT legal. Who dares to do what is not determined by others, but only by him/herself. If you dare to do it, then do it, but don't mislead someone else into believing they are not wrong.

And like verced said, if you are already breaking or even "bending" it, why even bother to pay RM160?

Not really, since it says "install and use" and the term household refers to the computers, not the owners.
