Nvidia on Intel's hostile list

Nvidia got cocky and wanted to conquer the chipset world, and naturally Intel, as a dominant predator in this world. reacted and punished the plucky little Nvidia.

There is an interesting story that we heard more than once that indicates that Intel "forgot" to send the latest Penryn-based Yorkfield samples to Nvidia and made some tweaks that made this CPU incompatible with the existing 680i and upcoming 780i motherboards. You have probably heard before that Nforce 680i boards have problems with QX9650 CPUs and that they won't work together.

When Nvidia got the samples, they learned that they would have to re-spin the chipset to make it work with upcoming quad core Yorkfield generation and thus resulted in quite a delay.

The launch had to be pushed to the very end of December, as it takes time to re-spin and fix the chipset; but luckily, all the 780i boards should work with Intel's 45 nanometer generation.

We are not sure if Nvidia can fix Nforce 680i and bring the support for Penryn to this chipset. The Core 2 Quad QX9650 really messed up Nvidia's plans, but Intel simply wanted to teach Nvidia who is the boss and wanted to sell as many X38 chipsets as possible and make its Q4 good.

Poor little Nvidia, but this might just be a blame shift getaway story. Anyhow, it sounds interesting, even if only certain parts are confirmed.

please get da latest news from www.intel.com <<only trustable,in my opinion there will be 0 company dare to risk lidat re-spin da technology....its too risky to try,by then if they done that intel could easily ban them and not giving da new chipset technoloy

I dont know much about fudzilla, but I've often come across comments here, and other forums as well, that they are a unreliable source.
