well, not quite sure bout that, tested on 12v 0.32A, and the fan works fine, the fan wont go full speed at any rating coz using LM317 doesn't give exact 12v output, u'll get ~ 95% of the speed.

LM317 is 1.5A.. if u dont exceed, it should work fine.. anyway, RM40, u earn quite a lot wor.. haha..
u might wanna consider active cooling as well for the LM317 cause it can get very hot when u load it @ around 1A..

haha.. no thanx.. i'm running all my fans @ 5V now, completely silent setup.. besides, i can build them on my own also as i have all the components in my inventory.. also have the LM1084 that supports 5A.. used them for my project.

same design, but different values of caps and resistors.. download the spec sheet of LM1084, there's application circuit inside..

thankx mate... btw check ur pm.. got a few questions..

btw
@zeuser

ur circuit looks very nice simple... but i notice that the pcb solder side is a bit higher than the slot area.. and wil come to contact with pci slot areas components... not a problem if its insulated .. ut just to point out to u

If you guys want to DIY a normal and non-fancy one, just solder a resistor would do.

walauweh.. advertising content deleted.. hahahahaaa.... never knew that.. thanx ianho rclxs0.gif

anyway @ lolhalol

nice controller dude..

about the clearence, i suppose if i put it between pci slots it may touch.. but if put at the lowest slot, the clearence is enough not to be touching with anything, plus any adjustment is minor, .. D.I.Y. maaa.... heheheee..

Cheers peeps! party.gif

Can also use LM338 for 5A supoort usin' the exact circuit as LM317, replacing only da voltage regulator
