I just got my set of XBox 360 in Midvalley Megamall, lovely price and all that jazz but there's one thing that caught my eye there, this External Cooling Fan for the XBox 360, I know this console suffered from lots of problems especially overheat, but I'm more worried about overheating than other problems seeing they do not cover warranty for overheating console. So is it worth it to get it?
Alsom, how long do I need to let it cool down after playing for an hour or two?

QUOTE(Dobb @ Nov 30 2007, 03:36 AM) i'm not sure about this but ppl say it's better to put ur concole in vertical position as heat builds up on the MOBO side -u can feel it quite warm when u play games, so, if u put it vertical + fan stand + extra cooling, that would be awesome! n make sure u place it well venitilated area n not in tight space cabinet or TV cabinet(refer to manual)

I'm not sure how but is it better to start the console and insert CD via dashboard? Or insert CD while the console is starting?

Well ... i dunno if there are any differents .. normally i will start my Xbox360 to dashboard, see my frenlist and then only insert the game that u wanna play. My console has a fan blowing right at it with my room air-con at 17.c .. yup, call me crazy

never did the dashboard idling thing as i just found out about it today.. but maybe i should practice it.
anyway, my xbox is kept in an aircond+fan ventilated room when i play, and i leave quite a fair bit of space behind the xbox cooling vents so that the hot air can dissipate. my longest playthrough was about 4 hours, and no problems so far.
the external cooling fan is not recommended in most cases.

QUOTE(cielBleu @ Dec 1 2007, 03:13 AM) just a question...its bad not playing ur 360 and put it in your room for a very long time? Nope .. last time i remember i did not touch my 360 for 6-7 months and i regreted it bcos so many games i miss and also lost contact with my 360 buddy. So .. leaving ur 360 for mths without playing, shud not be a prob. Anyway ... if ur controller is using the play and charge kit batteries, be very sure to take it out from ur controller, if u leave ur batteries too long in the controller, the batteries will never work again. Happen to me before in the past.

Any actual tips on avoiding Red Ring of Death?
I'm keen on getting the cooling fan, it cost about RM170 and I sure hell ain't gonna waste my money on repairs when I can prevent it.
So does the cooling fan actually cause RROD too??
