Windows Live Messenger 9 BETA Features (From the Microsoft Connect website) :

* Sign-in and messaging in multiple locations - You asked for it, now you have it! You can now sign into Messenger from more than one computer at a time, up to four at once. Simply sign into Messenger from one computer, install Messenger on another computer and sign in using the same account. (Only works if all computers are running Messenger 9.0 Beta. Currently enabled only for users whose Windows Live ID country is US or Canada.)
* Signature sounds - Pick your own personal sound that your contacts will hear when you sign into Messenger (only works if you and your contacts have Messenger 9.0 Beta).
* Per contact sounds - Pick unique sounds for each of your contacts. You will be able to tell from across the room who is sending you a message.
* SPAM Reporting - If users send you unsolicited messages or invitations that you consider spam, you can block them and report them as spammers. If you report a user as a spammer, the messenger service will collect this data and put appropriate restrictions on the spammer accounts. All reports of spammers are kept confidential.
* Animated Display Pictures - Show your moves! Messenger now supports animated .gif files as display pictures.
* Link in Personal Status Message - URLs in Personal Status Messages are hot and clickable in the Messenger contact list.
* Behind the Scenes Changes - Architectural changes that modified how things work but shouldn't have changed how things look
* Changes to sign-in, connectivity, presence, sending text IM's, voice & video features
* Windows Live Contacts Server - wlcomm.exe runs in the background to keep your contacts' information up-to-date and helps Messenger sign you in faster

hmmm... only apply to US / Canada users... Not sure whether changing email location will work for this o not ler...

lol... Coz last time when the days still suing 7.5, i change my email location to US only can use the new version 8 ma.. So jz now i was just guessing not sure whether they fix that bug o not only.. hahaa...

Since now is the case.. mayb i will repeat the same thing again...

quite stable la..since it is BETA ma.. so cannot expect too much la..
but the features attract me.. especially the spam reporting.. i can report the msn bot to m$ at least

i used it just now n found out not so good to use...still got many bugs...then i install back old WLM

i like that can support animation display pic.

i keep on dc n when logging in,it takes long time...
i sick of it so install back the previous version

for normal use..it is ok..actually got a lot of bugs that my fren discovered..

so far i only know the display pic of contacts will not appear on the contact list everytime first sign in, but it will appear if you open up the conversation windows

it is need to uninstall the old version ..then only can install back the new version(wlm 9).. if not.. it will come out this thing..

but he didnt mention it is animation gif in his post there ler.

I think this version do take a longer time in signing in than the usual msn,but it will be back to normal after a few times of signing in...cuz i had no problem with it after a few days installing it..

i got a friend which has this . but then soemtimes when i send him msg , it can't be delivered . i duno why ! is it cause of the msn version or wat ?

can this be installed on microsoft windows xp professional without any service pack?

better ask him roll back to ver8.5 loh

leave it a while 1st, till they release a more stable ver..

i think not only this version got , even wlm 8.5 final also have this problem , not software problem i think , is our internet problem =.=

it's quite good on resources IIRC.

previous WLM software doesnt hog a lot of memories actually
