There is also a rule of duty applicable to stuffs valued more than RM500 including shipping (how much is shipping costs btw?). I'm not too sure what stuff exactly and it seems your items are in the same category.

I think they hold it in CN so that they could send it back just in case you refuse to pay. Fedex or any private express courier service doesn't go through the normal process like national postal services do (ie, USPS or Royal Mail) and so I doubt you can settle it yourself. You'd just have to pay the amount I guess.

To make things clearer for you, you can call them to ask the specific details of the charges, they will tell you. Do call them up, their CS is quite pro as far as i know.

hello again.
thanks for your reply.
yes..my items are more than RM500, to be exact, it is RM640. shipping cost is free (paid by supplier), so i dont know how much.

yea..looks like my items are all in same category. if im not wrong and see correctly from the custom table, plasticware is 5%. but RM138.83/RM640 is about 22% already! shakehead.gif

hold in CN? but my items are actually ship from japan wor. they only sms me telling me the charges, didnt ask me want to pay or not wor. when should I pay anyway?

firstly, I called the no they provide, it is 1-300-63-63. the stupid guy kept telling me say they appoint agent to deal with, etc..ask me call another no. so i called another no. and the guy did tell me that the calculation includes freight charges. fine. then i asked him about the rate, he asked me to email fedex-kul-import@fedex.com mad.gif mad.gif and i emailed them this morning and im still waiting thier reply.

first time buy things from overseas. and before i buy, i did check the custom rate. so i tot is 5%. then OK...then only i proceed to buy. mana tahu...so expensive..beyond my expectation. vmad.gif vmad.gif mad.gif

Ah so it is going to be taxed in the first place? Yeah it's always a hassle when it involves tax and duty. Percentage stated does not include the hassle that you have to go through. I'd avoid buying stuffs overseas if it's on that taxable list. tongue.gif The hassle is just not worth it, for me personally at least.

Don't worry. Be patient and just take it as learning experience. biggrin.gif

Good luck with that package!

hi,im nurul ,it has been 2 years i import fragrance and cosmetic from usa.im not facing any problem with dhl or customs..but for this year 2012 my shipment that arrived on 2 feb at dhl subang still not release by customs.due to farmasi act..i just informed by cosmetics department from  biro pharmaceutical kebangsaan today that starts from 2012 all import item under cosmetic subject..perfumes,skincare ,makeup etc will need nota notifikasi that is kelulusan from farmasi ..tidak kira sama ada u buy as gift, personel use or to resell..and they say nota notifikasi hanya dikeluarkan kepada pengimport berlesen..let say i buy mariah carey fragrance so they wont allow me to import that from overseas..they say only elizabeth arden malaysia or licensed distributor can import ..the notification notes wont be issued for me even if i want it..what all of u think about that? so they also say that its illegal for us to sell such item online because we dont have licensed to import that and its already available here in counter..just purchase here they say..how stupid they are..its damn expensive here!! so now they are telling us that we are no more allow to make extra income by selling import perfumes and cosmetic from overseas..im blank and dont know what to do now..thats why all have to use org dalam to help ..

Ok, sharing my experience importing a wedding kimono for men from Japan. my japan friend did the transaction and got the kimono shipped to me . Kimono costs around RM1500.00

One day, poslaju called me whether I want them to be their agent, they will settle all the tax and procedure, then later I only pay them when pickup at Pos Laju branch.

I was practically thinking that the tax would be cheaper than me driving all the way from Melaka to KLIA (toll and petrol) so I agree.

2 days after that, poslaju called me tell me that procedure completed and they will forward the item to PosLaju Melaka. I was soooo shocked when hearing the tax and fee... total up to RM600++ DAMN!

if i had driven to KLIA, i could have negotiated with Kastam for the tax cos i bought it for my personal use (for my wedding!)

Moral : don't rely on POSLAJU as agent

hi.. tax is around 20% for clothes (and tax imposed is for the ITEM price + SHIPPING.. even if you do it yourselves the tax itself is already RM300 for the item+ the shipping.. then you expense for toll and fuel. i think you only save few bucks by do it yourselves
