400D+TAMRON SP AF17-50mm F/2.8, OR 40D+18-55IS?, need advise..

Getting Started Junior Member 229 posts Joined: Dec 2005	Hi Masters, I am planning to purchase an SLR, but I am not sure which is the better option. Currently I have 2 options in mind: 1-Canon 400D+TAMRON SP AF17-50mm F/2.8 -> abt RM4.3k 2-Canon 40D+18-55IS -> abt RM4.6k The concern with 40d kit 18-55 IS kits lens : I am not sure how good is this? As far as I know the 400d Kit lens is not so convincing. Could sifus pls advise which shall I get from the options above? Other options at that budget range can also be considered.. Thanks alot!
