ebay is cheap. shipping is about US$10.

Added on August 15, 2008, 4:57 pmcan someone explain to me why CD "pressing" quality matters?

I don't understand it as a software engineer point of view

Let's say i have a binary data file, i put it in expensive CD and cheap cheap CD. both also will hold 100% of that data. "software" wise, quality of the CD does not matter. (assuming both are new)

and what about Audio CD? Isn't Audio CD also holds pure binary data? Every modern CD reader will read data with error-detection mechanism and will have data buffering, so how will imported CD differ? please enlighten me cause I don't know.

thanks for the info

but that thread does not explain why pressing quality matters in technical sense

it only says "i hear difference". hope someone can explain technically.

how can digital data be lost by different pressing?
