I don't see any place suitable for the psu to be. Maybe just plan the airflow of the proc's hsf with the psu fan by adding a duct. Instead of hot air blowing on proc, the psu will suck the hsf's hot air and blow it out of casing.
As for ianho's mod you've mentioned, it's not the psu's held by acrylic. It was placed at the front, connected to the back.
As long as you don't touch anything which supports the case, the case will still be as strong as before.
As for the top panel, cutting a window will not cause the whole casing to no be strong. Just don't overdo it like cutting to the edge. Otherwise, you'll have a lousy top panel.
Side panel... I've got not much of an idea. Because I think that the psu and the stock fan is blocking all the view. Unless you wanna look at ur nice HDD and a little bit of every other thing, a window wouldn't hurt the casing structure.
