Find the trailer not the best portion to laugh at. I found it nothing to laugh at all. It's pretty old school to me.
The Kung Fu trailer one really can laugh alot of times. Even though i dun quite like the half end of the movies. I think i really missed how Stephen Chow performed his speech more. I want him to talk more instead of fostering new artists like in Kung Fu did. Hope for more trailer. I wan to see a better one soon. p/s: The kid is a gal. She was acted as a son. im a fan of Stephen Chow

Stephen Chow is a rare few HK actor that manage to move from mindless slapstick to some good humor. His last 2 effort (shoalin soccer and Kung fu hustler) may still feature some slapstick but he manage to take his slapstick to another level.

I've watched this movie at the Premiere day, it just made me boring
those jokes in it may make you laugh but they're too senseless the preaching from Stephen Chow is just cliche btw, CJ1 is a robopet just like Sony AIBO, while CJ7 is just a name given by a child why is 7...eh... I have no idea  |

Saw it last weekend already. In some countries, its released on 31st Jan. Funny as hell.. although Stephen is not the main actor, i dont know if they billed him as one, but most of the screen time is taken the kid.

Whether CJ7 is a flop or not, its surely the hottest movies/top-earner for CNY. Today, i went to buy 9 tickets for tomorrow's night show. Almost every show for today is sold-out but Kung Fu Dunk is still available. Hope CJ7 will not disappoint me.

it is a complete disaster for chow sing chii comedy.
well , too much hype for his comedy but it turned out to be a so-so drama . the story is not well linked and there is almost no apex , many things just like passing through only . the plots are there , just the story line is not well designed . the little monster's super power body movement is too much , looks kidna cheapo and looks like some ahbeng style of movement. chow sing chii's style, ala kungfu + taichii movement , whcih can be seen over his movie kungfusoccer and kungfuhustle . overall = not a great movie , a movie to enjoy with family members but not with friends . to be honest , i didnt really enjoy the movie and the jokes are lame and unattractive. call me rude for saying those who laughed so well in the movie is too mcuh . i didnt enjoy the laugh at all, perhaps i didnt laugh at all through out the movie . |

honestly , the story line of shaolin soccer is well defined and it has it's own asthetic value inside the story line , except the ending of the shaolin soccer which is a little bit too sudden. biasalah for chowshingchii ending style .
kungfu hustle is slightly dropped below shaolin soccer , the ending is too kua cheong but still the story line is so so , i would say it is still ok to be watched but enough to disappoint the audience . CJ7 is not really a good movie . yes it is a drama than a comedy , but it doesnt serve itself good enough as a drama. certain plots is there which is good, such as the kid's mark got 65, and the kid cheated in the exam by modifying the mark. but the story line plot is not well connected. some sort of it sounds like a drama , but it doesnt work as a drama. things like suddenly the bad boys become the good friends of the small kid. Meanwhile the fighting between the fat 'girl' and the fat boy is completely disaster for the movie, out of a sudden the kid got the power of the little monster , the poo part is lame. It is just some stupid move where me you or he can write. Think of some kua cheong scene inside the dream , and the real life it is a disappointment. The worst thing is the small alien monster, it was mean to be a commercial item IMHO, why bother to make it comes with all those stupid hand-body-movement which makes it looks al-cheapo, i know it might be used in the austinpower or someother movie. But please bear in mind, if the monster's normal movement is by using it's own leg like human standing , then it is okay to have such movement. Suddenly use the movement of the human is completely off which is a major turn off for the movie . sorry for my harsh word, CJ7 deserved 1 out of 5 point . some people will just say that i thought it is a comedy or whatsoever, but yes , i was expecting it as a comedy, but when it is a drama , i will look at it from the point of a drama. the fact still remains that the story line sounds too messy and not well defined, it's like u got good ingredients to make a cake but u ended up with wrong steps when trying to set-up the cake, get what i mean. I would say that among chow sing chii movie, the god of comedy is one of the worst in terms of comedy. but heck i would vote it as one of the best recent movie which he has done, becasue it is more like a drama, it works like a drama , no kua cheong stuff int he ending . and that is really the story line of the drama . For this CJ7 , sorry , no point having such lame movie . |

it is a well known fact that the stephen chow movies usually have weird and super kua cheong ending . such as fly up to the sky and god comes out or whatever . but in the other movie , such as his old movie , and the god of comedy the kua cheong level is slightly reduced in the ending .

i haven't watch yet, but by reading all those comments here, i won't expect much from this movie

"kua cheong" means something 'over-do' in Cantonese, I could not think an English word,
but well, Stephen Chow, really want to put this in some heavy pressure I think, since Shoalin Soccer and KungFu Hustle, I think this movie is a success, if with some more budget, I wish to see it on a series, 7 chai is so cute, - the doremon stuff, if they still will use, it is going to rock, hehe hey, is the 7 chai plushie is being sold by Edison Clot????? |

this movie is all about how's a life of a poor kid and his dad.
i really like this movie not because of Sing Yeh acting nor the alien, it's because it shows how's parents scarified their ass to earn money so that their child have better education.. it's really reflect how our parents earned their ass out to pay us to finish our studies etc etc etc... |

Just watched the movie this afternoon. IMHO, I find it a good movie. Obviously there will be fans who support / critic the movie no matter how good / bad it is. After all, we are talking about Stephen Chow's movie here.
The one point that I like about this movie is the element of filial piety. I think this is the first Stephen Chow movie that put so much emphasize on filial piety. I have forgotten where but I did read somewhere that this movie is intended for poor children in China. As you can see, his nagging did put some weight on being poor is not a crime. All in all, I would recommend this movie to my friend. |

Huh, I just agree with BridgestoneRE711 that the story line of CJ7 is not good enough. Many scenario transitions made me feel unnature, as the dream of the kid, or how Stephen Chow lost his heart to that teacher.
Of course I know it's not a comedy, but I don't know why there are so many senseless jokes in this film. I really don't think it is better than Shaolin Soccer or Kung Fu Hustle cause the latter can tell a unabridged story. |

i've watched the movie on the 1st day of CNY. well, i find tat this stephan chow movie is kinda different from all his old skool movies. in tis movie, he's not doing ridiculous stuff like what he always do in his other movies. in fact, tis movie encourages sum good moral values too anyways, i like the movie it is no more silly and ridiculous joke fr Stephan Chow |

well... in his interview he talk about this movie is for family 1. not just adult nor children. so i think this movie suitable for the whole family to watch. try not to compare it wit other stephen chow movies lik shaolin soccer or kung fu.

the movie was indeed a movie for the whole family.
the plot was okay with several funny moments... 2.8/5 i would say. lol and yeah. stephen chow is gonna earn billions not from the movie, but from the cutie alien's franchise. many girls would grab it without second thoughts. |

Watched it today, CJ7 is cute, I will probably buy it if there are merchandise of CJ7. Not bad la, at least this movie is the all out ridiculous style that used on Stephen's old movie.

Dang! This movie ALMOST made me cry!! But my wife wept like baby especially when the boy cried to sleep. I enjoyed this movie very much, but I can't help the feeling that Chow is losing his touch in this one. I understand that he is not the main character, but the stephen chow I remembered had so much more lines in his other movies than this one. This movie made him like a silent type guy. Haizz....
And I guess CGI really was overdone here. Kinda bored to see so much CGI in movies nowadays. Stephen Chow should show movie makers how to make good quality movies without the uses of CGI and animations. Seriously, even fake puppets with Ng Man Tat under it is so much funnier than CJ7. As for the pretty lady, I feel that she is just a poser in the story. Doesn't really contribute much to the story at all. Lame choice. Oh well, at least I still get to see some classic jokes by Stephen Chow. I love it! |

just watched it.. i would say that this movie not really worth the money. i will say this is a sketch or mini movie cos it is so short. It make me feel that stephen is trying to make this movie urgently. everything just jumble up together especially the ending(the accident till the end).

I consider this movie a poor effort from Stephen Chow standard. Too much is focus on the kid and not Stephen. We pay to see him act and not others.
Also no development on why the spaceship is on Earth and what purpose they at Earth. |

the bad thing about this movie is it end to fast, no followup to the creature itself. but average i like this film. although i miss his "mo lei tau" (this kind of movie is hard to sell in the west) style movie. maybe he got tired of it.
. interaction between father and son perfectly presented. Kitty Zhang Yuqi cry when she tells dicky at his(her) house about his father death, she looks amazingly authentic crying.but yeah, the movie falls short a bit. the ending is unsatisfying. i think this is his attempt at movie drama rather than comedy or kungfu. overall i still collect his original cd for my collection. ps: although many remember his good movie (forbidden cop, fight back to school...etc) many don't remember his not good movie like my hero (and movie in this period, it just plain terrible). his career have up and down, so we can cut him some slack since he's trying something different. |

i almost cry too, actually the tears already fully running in my eye, too touching! i dun think this is a full comedy thou, stephen chow has put in more human interaction and emotions, plus the message is meaningful. just that the ending a bit predictable lah, but overall is very good. Comedy with substance.

to be honest, im surprise on the scene where he died in construction site. Because this never happened in his previous movies, all heroic with super powers etc. Now he act back as normal human instead.

being Chow Sing Chi, he gotta have those slapstick comedy but ever since Shoalin Socer, i think he have treated his brand of comedy with more care. No more 90++ min of nonsense comedy but some quality in production and effect have set his last 3 movies apart from the rest of HK MTV production.
I thought CJ7 is not entirely great but its still good. Well, not entirely great as Shaolin Soccer was was something fresh while Kung Fu Hustle was a feast in martial art and effect. CJ7 is more a family oriented affair. I like the part when the dad died and Dicky wanna be alone. that "I am tired" part is so touching. I wasn't expecting CSC to do something like this. The CJ7 machine gun poh-poh was funny. Compared to the other CNY offering, this one is light years ahead. |

Watch it just now.
For me, it's an OK show. Storyline is just predictable. I love the so called space dog. It's so cute. |

yeah...watched it and loved it....
dun understand why some prefer the old comedy (watch back those then) u got to know that his old days movies were not directed by him...those are just full of nonsense jokes... this movie was directed and casted by himself...jokes are there and more natural... |
