QUOTE(stevanistelrooy @ Nov 23 2007, 03:42 PM) Sorry to not informing you guys. That thread was hide from normal members view and closed as the thread starter was warned by his company because of something which cross-over/conflict of interest with his company that he is currently working with and his job is as stake. This thread will serve as the new official SAP thread instead. how can we viewed the old thread again? This are the few post which i can help regarding thread starter question. i think theres alot of helpful information inside the old thread... can try to filter those out? |

Hi All, i am currently working as a senior regional ERP implementation personal. I have 2 years experience in it and before this, i was with a local telco company for about 4 years doing web/application developments
I know years of experience will only shorten the learning curve if i jump into SAP, pay wise will be like fresh grad (sadly). But if i can get the max fresh grad pay (3.5K) i can still survive for a year or 2. Now if i wanted to jump into SAP, i believe the most suitable module would be ABAP. I consider myself as a techie with a little busines sense (thx to the 2 years ERP experience). I believe my regional explosure should be able to help me in a better starting point to kick start the SAP career. So my problem is as below: 1. Since there's so many fresh grad ABappers around, is it wise for me to jump into it now? 2. I have no plan to take on a 25K course. But will consider for the free boot camps/MDEC programs. Can anyone tell me when will be the next course scheduled? 3. I have seen in this thread that some people jump from 1.8K to 15K within 3 years. And i do remember there's a forumers which earning pounds living in Msia by doing ABAP. But i also heard that there is some ABAPers who earn penny after years of experience because according to them, technical ppl is not being appreciated much as functional consultants. Can anyone comment on this? 4. One commonly asked question: Is ABAP a dying module? as it's getting saturated and seems like Java is coming to it's way. Also heard that there's plan to dramatically reduce configuration/customization and replaced with some automated customization tools(forgot the name) 5. If i jump into ABAP, should i focus in Netweaver, R/3 or ECC 6? 6. I am planning for migration within 10 years. let's not talk bout SAP, just pure IT ERP global implementation career w/o certification, how will the chance be? I also considering Oil and Gas IT career. Anyway wont post here as this is a SAP thread. Hope some of the gurus here can answer my question. Thanks!
