nowadays more n more ppl are installing those sattelite dishes that can capture free-to-air worldwide tv channels

i am wondering if this is illegal in msia?

or mebbe who in LYN here installed oredi perhaps can u share out some info...

It is not legal by the way..

I saw some people in my area use it.

i just googled...found some in ebay.com.my selling

correct me if i am wrong....i was told that if the dish is bigger than 4 meter then it is illegal...if smaller than OK?

all of those satellite dishes except asstro are illegal, the only place you can see lot's of them is in Sarawak and Sabah, since gomen close one eye and can't do much there also.

Here in west M'sia MCMC will monitor it closely, they have this van/truck park in MSC which can detect satellite signals, which some times will go out patrol around housing area to detect any illegal satellite dish. Sometimes they will use helicopter to check too... So if one day you see a helicopter flying low and hovering around your neighborhood then you'll know it's them.

you can get fine up to few thousand, how much exactly I can't remember, or jailed for up to 6 months if I'm not mistaken, or both together.
