The rates, afa changes and all the surcharge once u hit certain total kwh makes it not practical to compare total bill in RM month to month..

Best comparison is kwh monthly..

user posted image

It seems AFA only kicks in if u hit 600 kwh

There are severe heatwave around april to june, if you use aircon, it will affect the usage due to working harder.

If your usage is 600kwh and above, you will affected by AFA charge and retail charge.

AFA rates

July 2025: 0.00 sen/kWh
August 2025: -1.45 sen/kWh
September 2025: -1.10 sen/kWh
October 2025: -6.50 sen/kWh
November 2025: -8.91 sen/kWh
December 2025: -6.42 sen/kWh
January 2026: -4.99 sen/kWh
February 2026: -2.77 sen/kWh
March 2026: -2.15 sen/kWh
April 2026: -0.47 sen/kWh
May 2026: +1.38 sen/kWh
June 2026: +2.59 sen/kWh
July 2026: +3.59 sen/kWh

Even though last month hot weather and my sister come my house charge her EV due to her condo charger congestion,
my last month usage still below 600kwh so the AFA thing not affecting me.

Those 50kwh DIY solar battery does helps a lot.

I think we're OK. Last time only 1 charge, now got 4 (generation, capacity, network & retail). Bill should already 4x more expensive. That's why need to resign Anthony Loke.

once u consume more than 600kwh or 1500kwh, the hike is quite steep

Feb: 516kwh

Apr: 640kwh
May: 644kwh
Jun: 698kwh
Jul: TBA

Same pax, same appliances, same daily routine, no new electrical appliances.
Last year all covered, this year kwh increasing consistently.

My feeling telling me TNB is manipulating with the reading
Baru pasang 1 year, long time to go.

Tnb looks at import. To determine AFA charges.

Not Net import. Therefore for solar user who make use of the export and than import it yet again at non sun production time will get higher bills.

Anyone else got a larger electricity bill this month?

Mine up by 50%

QUOTE
Electricity bills have effectively increased in July 2026 due to the Energy Commission (ST) setting the Automatic Fuel Adjustment (AFA) surcharge at +3.59 sen/kWh. This is an increase from the +2.59 sen/kWh surcharge applied in June. The base electricity tariff itself has remained unchanged, and the government has maintained subsidies to protect approximately 85% of domestic consumers. Only consumers whose monthly electricity usage exceeds 600kWh (or bills over RM216) are subject to this AFA surcharge and the 8% Service Tax.
