I'm thinking of getting a Proton X90 for work. I need a 7 seater that has decent space. I know there are a few small 7 seaters that are similarly priced to the X90 and some much more expensive ones that have similar space (and better features).

In that price bracket, are there any other similarly sized 7 seaters?

if you really want go into 7 seater you need something like serena lah , those x90 in out really susah for 7 ppl

if serena is not your choice and by no choice those ais beku is your only choice despite public road user hate them so much

any car that doesnt have slide door are not proper 7seater tbh
as the size will be super limited on thirdrow

if you want proper one, you need looking for window van type, vellfire canival serena etc.

More like 5 + 2. 2 at the back maximum 1 to 2 hours for adult.

Tiggo 8 Pro if it me, but buy used 1-2 years old. 2.0T with DCT from them, almost like C300 Mercedes hp/torque range

You're better off with MPV

Nissan is launching new X-trail before end of this year. It's a 7 seater with a powerful hybrid engine. It initially caught my interest but after I found out there is another new generation of X-trail launched by Nissan, all interest went down the drain as the all new model looks significantly more elegant than the one that is due to launch later this year

Nissan X-Trail is consider as 5+2, previous gen and latest seating almost the same.
The rear is very cramp and only suitable for small kids.

if I have 3-5 kids, will purchase used, but good condition Alphard, but sure use it on weekends, long-distance travel only. The rear space for the seat space is bigger than any SUV 3 row types

Actually the last row of the X90 is quite decent and I have sat in it longer (3 hours - KL to Melaka) and it was fine. Height about 165cm still ok.

Yup, the XTrail 3rd row is only for emergencies or kids. I have one so, I know

Need to see which generation Alphad/vellfire, the earlier version rear original suspension setting is not really good for long travel (+higher highway speed) with adults seating in the last row (middle still ok), i got few friends (even my mechanic place customer) spend a lot of money changing different suspension set & adding Cusco/"safety" bar just to reduce the floatiness/boat feeling for the rear side, if not mistaken only the latest version or past 1 or 2 generation got improvement to the chassis and suspension settings making it more better. Those which travel short distance usually no complain, but those which travel a lot between states, Genting can see a pattern most will try to mod/improve the original suspension settings.

If all behind just kids and dont complain much then no need waste too much money to mod.

Toyota Innova Zenix is quite good tbh, the 3rd row is quite comfortable for even average size adult.

+ the handling is also better than boxy MPV like Serena.

These should be the motto, considering it only takes it for weekend/ occasion travelling time. My family member had this Velfire, the previous gen, considered comfortable interior-wise. But stand by for expensive steering rack repair/ replacement

I thought Toyota very reliable, but subject to steering rack issue too?
