True. Somebody can easily spend RM2.5k or even more on 1 lens alone. As for me, I spent RM2.3k on 4 lenses, RM200 on filters.

huhu. I just spend like RM 2k+ on a lens and a bunch of filters. that brings my DSLR cost to like RM 5k+ already.

QUOTE(scorgio @ Nov 19 2007, 12:54 PM) oh same la. just that mine not yet buy flash. i rarely use flash anyway since my photo style is mostly outdoors. so TS - you get the point - DSLR is limited. after you buy, you see people do nice stuff with other stuff - oops spending again. *sorry, I'd say DSLR is unlimited. but the DSLR kit unit is limited. and you're $$$ limited too! the thing is this. will you stop at that RM 2.5k or will you consider adding on later? cos for RM 2.5k a DSLR is limited while prosumers would have more capabilities.

fuji's s9600 is bridge cam btw, not a dslr. From your comments go for Canon 400D. Good PQ control, more color saturation than nikon. The top selling dslr right now, you won't regret it. It has the most extensive accessories for you to add on later.

Fuji S9600 is not DSLR la. anyway just browse around. many of us have done nice photos even with the low end goods. would you consider 2nd hand goods? a used 350D could be acquired for as low as RM 1350. with that left over RM 1.2k or so you could get quite a number of things.

If you just wanna get a good camera that can last for sometime, get a 400D + memory card. Later on when you have the money than only invest on good lenses. 400D is not that left behind considering it's still quite new.

I rather get myself a used Nikon Entry Level D80 or jump to intermediate DSLR Canon 30D rather then getting a used d70s for more than 3k

LOL. Am still developing skills - bought Oly E-510 couple of months ago - and already have spent ~RM6k on camera, lens, flash, filters etc etc. With a DSLR, like a PC, the buck never stops. I think I can easily spend another RM5k-10k on my DSLR by buying faster and higher quality tele or wide angle lens before I'm even satisfied. Good luck on your purchase ... Totally agree with you mate, spent just as much as you did and recently spent RM1k on batteries (grip+AA rechargeables from Japan)..
