The better way would be scrap old cars so these cars won’t eat up budi with lousy fuel efficiency also can open up more market for car makers.

QUOTE(ryujin0x @ May 6 2026, 11:30 PM) MITI is correct here. Malaysia doesn't have the market to support the number of EV companies that China has. If too many cars, they might just close shop after X number of years leaving car owners hanging (then will hear why gov never do this or that). So to give company's like BYD, Geely profits in order to be here long term - they made this rule. EV's can easily do CKD here as its easier to install an EV compared to ICE. amalan membaca amalan mulia. miti rule for byd factory is 80% of volume for export.Good policy. Need less emotional unstable people on the internet and how come these 'car analyst' or 'specialist' dont understand long term positive impact of a policy like this. |

This mindset is same as mamatir protectism to failed proton and perodua. At the end rakyat is footing all the bill, buying low grade high price car today. Malaysia itself is too small to owned a car brand or assembly plant.Good policy. See Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, new Zealand, Denmark and other small countries, they find niches industry strength and opened economy. So now still want go back old and failed protectism policy (and tongkak and favorism inside and outside) ?? eddystorm, contagiouseddie, and 3 others liked this post

So now still want go back old and failed protectism policy (and tongkak and favorism inside and outside) ?? 30million pipits need to sacrifice for the above!!! Dulu, kini & selama nya! #ApaMaluBossKu? Meanwhile Thailand & Indonesia says Thank you Malaysia! As they getting ready for Automotive 2.0 and taking advantage of China + 1 policy. Example... Thailand is rapidly transforming into a regional Electric Vehicle (EV) manufacturing hub, aiming to leverage its existing "Detroit of Asia" automotive infrastructure. The supply chain is shifting from traditional Japanese dominance to include Chinese manufacturers (BYD, MG, GWM). Key components like battery packaging, traction motors, and drive control units are now being localized, particularly in Thailand Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). "China+1" Strategy & Geopolitics Due to rising trade tensions and tariffs in the US and Europe, Chinese firms are diversifying their supply chains to countries like Thailand to avoid protectionist measures. tantk58, soulseeker6187, and 1 other liked this post
