QUOTE(white_neck @ Feb 25 2008, 11:32 AM) need some advise HDMI is digital not analogue. The audio/picture won't be affected between diferent cables. If signal is 010101, the receiver should get the same 010101.i bought lcd tv & ps3... now there are some people said that the cheap hdmi cable (rm50-60) is not good? and it will crack the picture quality the best hdmi cable is around rm300-400.. is there a quality different between both cable? anyone has experience this? Now the only quality you need to worry is the physical built of the cable itself, the insulation, etc. Branded cables may last longer, that's all. The picture/audio quality will not be any different. Only make sure it supports version 1.3a, and length not more than 5 meters. |

QUOTE(sieg_wahrheit @ Mar 10 2008, 02:36 PM) Yes, sure can one through firmware update. But I doubt Sony will give us that. Unlike DiVX, which some video camera uses widely, MKV is a format that is not used for consumer products. Legal HD movie downloads (Amazon or Apple) uses h264 in MP4 or MOV container, not MKV. MKV right now only used for illegal HD rips. Supporting it now is very much like supporting piracy. But the future may change though. I would like MKV support too. |

QUOTE(megatron007 @ Mar 12 2008, 08:53 AM) I can hear fine. Maybe your receiver? Some receiver can't process AAC.When AAC is disabled in the sound setting, PS3 will decode it and send it as PCM. So just turn off AAC. |

QUOTE(jimjim @ Mar 12 2008, 11:22 PM) the price might not drop, but the spec might change... newer profile 2.0, newer firmware, divx support, etc... will i miss out this feature if i buy now? Your worries are legit, for a standalone player. For PS3, all of those can be easily done through firmware update. PS3 is future-proof BD player. When I bought it, there was no DiVX support, no Profile 1.1, etc but now after few minutes of update, it's done. Except for HBR audio bitstreaming of course because of hardware, which is no big deal actually (though I still want it, having seen the words "DTS-HD Mstr" & "Dolby TrueHD" on my AV receiver feels great). Having PS3 decodes internally still gets the job done. PS3's SiL9132 HDMI chip has not proven to be capable of HBR bitstreaming, but not proven otherwise either, so we can't rule out entirely actually. Though most unlikely I must say. QUOTE(tanghm @ Mar 17 2008, 05:22 PM) abit off means the image will be stretched abit vertically since HD 1080p vertical pixels is only 1080, it gets pulled up to 1200, unless it supports 1:1 pixel then you get 2 black bands on top and bottom of the screen. All widescreen TV aspect ratio is 1.78:1 while widescreen monitors is 1.60:1. That's where the extra vertical pixels come from. |

QUOTE(rx330 @ Mar 27 2008, 12:03 PM) In your dream! I'm using it. You'll never reach that 3.6 mb speed. That's just a theoretical HSDPA speed at best efforts. There are times I can't even get connected, there are times that it's so slow. But it's not that bad actually. There are also times it was so good. Once I downloaded 8 GB MKV file in 10 hours only. Some people might not be lucky though. |

QUOTE(rx330 @ Mar 27 2008, 12:51 PM) That speed happens like once a month. Usually takes one whole day to download 4 GB. But I'm not using torrent, I heard people say torrent speed is bad, and only can do 12-5 am everyday. Also depends on coverage area, can check with your Maxis 3G phone. If you get strong HSDPA signal area, you should get good speed. Another thing, the connection is nt affected by rain at all, I can surf normally during thunderstorm (though not recommended, you know la, thunder ma). But I can't say I fully recommend, a lot of people in the Broadband thread are complaining. Like I said, not everyone is lucky. |

QUOTE(vassalle @ Apr 2 2008, 08:33 AM) hi, I didn't know where to post this, sorry if it doesnt belong here.. I think you just got hit by the rare lens problem. There are a few members here that can fix it for you, like tot31.Last night while playing PES2008, the game crashed. After restarting my PS3, I got the "error 80010514" and I can't load any other game or blueray movie for that matter. Quick google shows that ppl who got this error usually return their PS3 and it's related to the blue ray drive. Just wanna know if any sifu here can fix my problem here without resulting me in returning the PS3 to Sony Singapore? Anyone else here pernah kena this before? Thanks in advance! QUOTE(sengwee1988 @ Jun 26 2008, 05:39 PM) I have a question, will my PS3 graphics look nice on a TV without full HD?? Depends on your viewing distance bro. It's relative, the distance vs screen size.I am using the LG 42LC2RR TV, i think it only has 1080i or 720p, will the ps3 graphics look as nice on this HD TV?? Compared to TV with full HD? Any1 can give me some comments?? Thanks in advance.. ![]() |

QUOTE(danielcwo @ Jul 2 2008, 09:47 PM) The upgrade process was quite simple but my batch of PS3 40GB version is different from the online PS3 FAQ or the user manual. The HDD casing is much easier to take out compare to my other friend's PS3 80GB version. Just take out the Blue screw and pull the handle, the HDD will pop out by itself. |

I hope your PS3 recovers soon. Just reformat, but I think you'll lose your downloaded games and saves, videos, music, photos, etc. PCs can't read the HDD, it's using a file system that is not NTFS or FAT32.
Well, while you're doing this reformatting, etc, might as well you just upgrade to bigger HDD. I've never updated my PS3 directly. It's always best to update using USB drive. When you download using PC, you have these download managers with error checking and stuff, at least you can check whether the update file is corrupted or not, using checksum, etc. It'll be much faster too. Downloading using PS3 will take a long time without being able to do anything with it. You can use the PS3 to play games while it's being downloaded with your PC. Here are the links for the current 2.40 Firmware.
Japan: http://djp01.ps3.update.playstation.net/up...f1/PS3UPDAT.PUP Asia: http://dsa01.ps3.update.playstation.net/up...f1/PS3UPDAT.PUP USA: http://dus01.ps3.update.playstation.net/up...f1/PS3UPDAT.PUP You can download form any links above actually. But if you're cautious, download the one that's relevant to your PS3's region. These links are for 2.40 only, new update in the future will be different with the date and checksum. |
