the VGA box/convertor suggestion is just that - a suggestion. obviously pairing the ps3 with a HDCP LCD monitor will yield better result.

but some ppl here have very nice LCDs which are not HDCP-compatible so they choose a VGA convertor option as a temporary workaround.

warning, the converted image quality (component->VGA) may end up below expectations.

u can register an Asian PSN account with any fake SGP/HK postal address.

use MAL credit card with MAL address can buy it on SGP/HK store (HK store should be cheaper due to currency exchange rate)

u need to buy the ps3 component cables (1 of its end is a adaptor connecting to ps3) ~RM30

yes, u can re-download your purchased PSN content (they are linked to the PSN account) as many times you want.

each PS3 is count as 1 activation, so;

your PS3 + fren's PS3 = only 2 activation.

you can also choose to "de-activate" the account from the ps3. look under "Account Management" in the XMB.

1) depends on the bank, even if they DO call you, just let them know you authorize the transaction on SGP/HK PSN Store, no worries.

the latest FW already patched any loopholes to get "ahem" PSN games, i think the loophole was in a very old FW circa ~1.80

Are u sure? IINM , the XMB user and PSNID (username+password+friendlist) is not stored in HDD. even if u format, it should still be there.

any speaker system (whether PC speaker or home audio system) which can accept optical input and decode DD5.1 signal can be used with the PS3 for surround sound.

aha, that's the problem. i'm not familiar with pc speakers systems at all (or any sound system for that matter)

i doubt there are many pc speaker system that can do that and also reasonable price though. mb check the Audiophiles subforum for ideas

actually Asian set can mean from many countries (HK, SGP, TWN or S.KOR) refer to the 1st page, the ps3 model number (have number 06) will tell u if it is SGP Set



yes, the ps3 can get very warm, much warmer than the 360 in fact. actually, that's the problem with the 360 cooling! not enough exhaust heat means too much heat buildup trapped inside the case, warping the mobo!

but u should always place ps3 in well ventilated area.
