Edit: Just realised that you are the TS. Did you think that the Jaecoo, Jetour, Omada, Haval's etc were all EVs? This post has been edited by gobiomani: Apr 21 2026, 11:10 AM

If you want longevity in the Malaysian market, cannot go wrong with Proton. If you are willing to bet on others, MG S5, Leapmotor B10 (boths SUVs) as well as BYD Seal 6 (sedan) is in your price range.

QUOTE(Avangelice @ Apr 20 2026, 08:36 AM) Should I wait for the next Gen ev or pull the trigger now? My current car is showing it's age Although at this time of volatile situation in the world, spending big sums of money should have extra deliberations. But if you have the financial means, please go ahead to replace your current ride. Just don't rely on the assisted driving too much, it is still mainly trained using china's road condition and usage habits. And even in China, still have to keep vigilant as there are times the system gets confused and get the car into accident during assisted driving mode.

criteria 1 = LFP battery. this can rule out those beemers, merc criteria 2 = longevity of company, rule out those small odd brand players criteria 3 = if made in malaysia will be bonus. unlikely will lari
after that then go test drive
you will end up with proton, perodua, cherry, wuling
stelantis, byd.. uncertain.

But IMO still usable and the drive, handling and the price makes it worthwhile to accept the laggy HU. MG S5 HU was good during my limited testing with it but some users experienced intermittent issues.

QUOTE(harvin6 @ Apr 22 2026, 01:20 PM) 40kWh battery - 250 km to 300 - no way above 300 unless you drive everywhere stable below 60kmh. My family has one, I drive it periodically, easily over 300km U can check in groups also people consistently getting over 300km no issue. The WLTP claim 325km is quite achievable just drive normally. If u drive more conservatively can even get like 340km
