For eg; pdf file price for MERC BENZ,C 200 Kompressor,Car,1796=RM120,526 but the real doket price only E17700, refer http://m4j1h4.fotopages.com/?entry=1098193 anyone have any idea? |

the fotopages link given is the real example of the car tax calculation, so I think the docket price E17700 must be from the kastam.

QUOTE(zemmhassim @ May 1 2009, 03:01 AM) the tax is 221.75%? Thought it was going to be around 150%. Thanks zemmhassim, Added on May 1, 2009, 3:14 am Nice calculator takuntung! I tried and here are my findings: 1. The Insurance field cannot be populated. It wont accept anything that I typed in. Default now is zero. 2. Sales tax. Isn't this field supposed to be a percentage that I can get from the link for import and excise tax? The value defaulted in there definitely not 10%. Not sure how this is calculated. 3. Is docket price the same as CIF value? 4. The depreciation discount, is it based on Production date (manufactured) or the model year? My car was manufactured in Oct 2006, but identified as 2007 model. Using your calculator, I'll be glad to pay the government RM4k for bringing in my X5..which seems too low. Only 4k for X5 2006 1. The insurance field is alraedy calculated for u, its 1.5% from (total after all deductions) 2. Sales tax is also calculated 10% from (Nilai Kastam+DI+DE) 3. yup 4. not sure. I tried to calculate your car tax using my calculator, I assume that when you bring back your car, it is 3 yrs old (48% depreciation), and shipping is from UK, and it is 3 liter engine. The docket price posted by someone here is (pdf file) is RM161499. The tax before discount is RM 117, 532.99. Where do u get 4 K? This post has been edited by takuntung: May 2 2009, 01:41 AM |

QUOTE(BeastX @ May 1 2009, 08:52 AM) They tax yor tax/duty... with sales tax taxing all the tax/duty + value... so in the end, the compounded tax is effectively 221.75% for more than 3L Yup, they tax on tax. Based on caculation here, Duti eksais(DE) is only calculated from Nilai kastam (NK) which is 80% x 15034.04 = RM 12027.23.But one of my fren was taxed differently last few months. His DE was based from (Nilai kastam + Duti import) which is 80% x (15034.04 + 4510.21) = RM 15635.4. U see, dekat 3 k lari. Which method is correct, I am not sure. But there is inconsistency in their calculation. Itu yg saya takut. I know most people bring back their car wont argue about calculated tax from kastam, but u really should know how to calculate them yourself. Ada satu lagi kes lagi teruk, I try to calculate based on the eg. above, he should be taxed around 67k b4 rayuan, but kastam kira 90+K, but after rayuan , he was taxed 60+. so my advise, u should know how to calculate the tax, or roughly estimate your tax, maybe you can save 20k +...for correct tax calculation. QUOTE(Res Ipsa Loquitor @ May 28 2009, 04:22 AM) Hi, I have just logged into my lowyat forum username after many years, so i can be considered quite new in this. I dun know the docket price, I assume you bring back the car this NOV (car age 2yrs) and I assume the docket price is AUD 43K which i think is much higher than the real docket price. The estimated tax is RM82 K.I need some URGENT help in regards to my taxes. I own a Honda Civic Type R 2007 (European Edition) in Australia and I am intending to bring it back to Malaysia. I bought it for AUD 43,000 in November 2007. I would really appreciate it if someone can help me calculate the taxes for this car. I dont know if anyone has imported this vehicle to Malaysia yet, so I am assuming that it would be the only European Type R in Malaysia as compared to the JDM Civic Type R 2007. Please give me a rundown on my taxes and the price after (possible discounts) I am studying in Australia. Thank you Added on May 28, 2009, 5:36 amhelp |

In my opinion, whatever car age you bring back is still cheaper than Msian market price. What I want to stress here is that, it is better to get a newer car coz the tax reduction after 10 yrs are not much. For ex. 20 yrs old car tax and 15 yrs old car tax will only differ around RM5k only. So better pay a bit more tax and get much newer car. juz my 2 cents.

QUOTE(BeastX @ May 29 2009, 05:13 PM) Depends on the initial FOB value, and the engine's cc (the bigger the engine the larger the difference in payable tax from year to year)... The FOB value at 15 years old is 41% less than at 10 years old. If we are talking about "amount" of tax to be paid, definitely it varies depend on many parameters such car price, cc, etc. However if we talk about "percentage" of reduction, whatever cars you plot, it will give a similar to "minus exponential" graph as shown above. This means, the "percentage" of reduction will be the same. Thus , whatever car u bring back, the tax for the car after certain period(>10yrs) will not differ much due to minus exponential curve. |

QUOTE(gtoforce @ Jun 27 2009, 03:48 AM) depends on preference dude why so hard to ustd? I didnt say its not worth to bring back 90s car , as i said earlier, whatever car age you bring back, usually is much cheaper than Msia market price, so it is worthwhile.some people, like me, is looking quite hard to get a '90s NSX and such cars are niche some can suggest that at that price, i can get a newer reliable car and perhaps a family car, but its all preference dude haha but i still dont understand why its not worth it to bring in a '90s car my point is if you have 2 same cars to buy, one is 15 yrs and the other is 10 yrs, it is better to get the 10 yrs car coz the amount of tax to be paid will not differ much. This is due to minus exponential curve as explained b4. To be worth or not, I recommend to check msia market price first coz some cars are not worth to bring back, for ex: proton |

QUOTE(BeastX @ Sep 10 2009, 08:26 AM) Lets say you exceed 48 months (less than 54 months).. 58% off FOB value. tax rate will be revised? mmmmph...any ref.?A bigger cut in taxes, if your car in more than 60 months (5 years) You're looking at about £14,416 in taxes... or RM83.3k (before appeal).. with the current tax rate, will be revised this month and unknown when it will be implemented. |

QUOTE(victor87 @ Sep 22 2009, 07:03 PM) yup, we pay a lot for car tax and many malaysians still dun realize this.. what to do , we live in this boleh land which have this kind of mentality "if u dun wan to pay toll, u boleh naik lembu kereta" , so same goes here, if u dun wan to pay car tax, u boleh naik lembu juga..btw, i dun mind to pay this tax actually as long we have clean & transparent gomen, where the money really-really goes back to rakyat, like free highway(UK), free water (eire) free education (germany), etc.... arrghh stop dreaming. |

QUOTE(Bedok @ Jan 7 2010, 10:39 AM) This is my tax calculation when I brought back my w203 c180 elegance a few months ago. Thank you bedok for sharing your car tax calculation, based on my car tax calculator , the total tax is RM17,945, slightly higher than your tax which is RM17196. This is because, you are lucky to get discount based on CIF value. My car tax calculator is based from here. So discount is calculated before CIF value. It is based on the car value after depreciation deduction. However it doesnt matter coz the difference only around 900RM but it gud 4 uDocket price: DM 41200 * the car was first registered in 11/2000 according to the v5 document so no euro yet, Germany still uses Deutsche Mark. It is weird that they use Germany currency for Mercedes docket price no matter where it was actually assembled in, ie South Africa. Peralihan: -15% DM 35020 Depreciation: 11/2000 - 11/2005 -70% DM 10506 - 11/2006 -10% DM 9455.4 - 11/2007 -10% DM 8509.86 - 11/2008 -10% DM 7658.874 * eventhough the car gets to port in September, they refused to grant another 10% because it is not full year. The difference this 10% made to the final tax is roughly RM1300 which pisses me off so much. Dua bulan pun nak kira. TOTAL: DM 7658.87 CIF: Cost = 7658.87 x 1.73333 = RM 13275.12 Insurance = RM 199.13 Freight = RM 1700.00 ---------------- CIF RM 15174.25 ========= *The exchange that they used is badly outdated I bet so the actual Docket price in RM is soooo low in comparison to Euro priced counterparts due to the high Euro exchange. A 2001 (which will use Euro) can have up to 20% increase in the docket price. Discounts: Custom Selangor : -20% RM 12139.4 Custom Putrajaya : -10% RM 10925.46 AFTER DISCOUNT: RM 10925.46 * Due to some over eager b**tards Payment Calculation: Duty : 30% RM 3277.638 Excise : 80% RM 11362.4784 Sales Tax : 10% RM 2556.55764 TOTAL TAX : RM 17196.68 * They did calculation without the discounts and it should have been RM 23884.28 so with full 30% discount I saved roughly RM 5700 * If we used Beastx's effective rate for tax calculation which is RM 10925.46 x 157.4%, we get the exact amount but with little less pening kepala. What I am trying to say here, this Kasatam does not have standard calculation method...plsss la mr ketam, publish one UPDATED standard calc. method on ur website... |
