there is one way to bring cars from neighbouring countries especially Singapore.

1. Buy a scrap SG car for cheap
2. Get it confiscated by Customs
3. Wait for it to be auctioned.
4. Bid for it.
5. Pay tax and everything.
6. Tada.

Haha.

In a serious note, NO WAY TO IMPORT CARS FROM OUR NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES.

AP not applicable anymore for bordering countries like singapore, thailand, brunei right?

Any other ways to bring in cars from these countries?

so, all those new cars we buying here, such as honda, toyota, they need ap to get them to malaysia too?
*
Yes, you got that right. Cars assembled in Thailand, when you buy it brand new, you should get an AP document (a copy of it) along with your car. Still from what I know, Malaysia also assembles Honda cars (city) so no AP is needed for those cars.

hi, let's said I been sourcing a nice from UK or japan, from like to bring it back to Malaysia, what is the procedure I need to do? thank you

Who's AP you gonna use? That person needs to

1. own the car there for at least 9 months (document in the country of origin (UK) under his/her name)
2. has FULL drivers license in the country of origin (UK)
3. has insurance for the car for AT LEAST 9 months prior to the shipment of the car

I think that is it. All malaysians studying / working for 1 year or more are entitled to bring a car in once in a life time (one AP per person).

Then you need to go to MITI, bring all the documents, and then apply for AP. Once that is settled, need to go to Customs to pay tax and release the car from storage at the port of entry (usually Port Klang).

Okay not sure how it works but my SG friend selling 64 triumph spitfire and I am very keen on buying it, is there any way of me keeping it in Malaysia?
*
Just forget it unless you want to break the car apart and sell as sparepart. Else, you will live your whole life worrying if the enforcement is going to raid/take it away from you. Even if the car is parked somewhere, THEY STILL CAN CONFISCATE THE CAR FROM YOU. Buying a scrapped car from SG means you are AVOIDING (NOT PAYING) TAX - and CUSTOMS has the authority to take it away from you.

How to pay tax? No way for SG scrapped cars. If there is a way, SG Scrapped cars had been legal in Malaysia

Hi, just asking since my sis will be going oversea to study, planing to get 1 Honda S2000 back to Malaysia...will the price cheaper compare to the selling price in Malaysia currently around Rm145k (AP1 2nd hand unit).

Thank you

Which country your sis is going to? To me, if you want to use the car for yourself, go for it. It tends to be cheaper BUT you need to have lots of cash (1. buy the car, 2. buy insurance, 3. ship the car, 4. pay the import tax LUMP SUM). But if you want to sell it, you have to know personal AP means you cannot change the title and have to wait 2 years AFTER you register the car in Malaysia. Then you have to know that those cars might be older than 10 years old, means it will be hard for banks to give out loans for cars that old. So you need to find cash buyer.
