22 years... Tax would no be much, if it was based on the old calculation.... Shoot Kastam an email for estimate.

Workshops should have temporary license plate to drive the car to the workshop

I have been working in Japan and will return to Malaysia to do my own business at the end of 2012. I plan to bring back my car which I have own for 4 years.

To apply for AP, I noted the following from MITI website:

Applicant must submit the application together with a certified copy of the following documents:

- International passport.
- Working or studying visa overseas. Dependent visa are not entitled or allowed to apply. (Except Government officials posted overseas).
- Identity card.
- Letter of offer to work or study overseas.
- Letter of job termination or completion of study.
- Malaysian driving license.
- Approval letter to study overseas from the sponsor of the scholarship or loan.
- Certificate of Registration of the Vehicle overseas.
- Insurance Certificate of the Vehicle overseas.
- Purchase Invoice of the Vehicle overseas.
- Completed and typed Customs Form JK69.
- Boarding pass/flight ticket back to Malaysia.

My question to the experiences forum members as follows:
1) Am I required to certify all the above documents? Seems like a lot of work to do so. And if so, who can certify them?
2) What kind of proof does MITI require to proof that one is permanently back in Malaysia? Will they require a letter from the new employer or the boarding pass is sufficient? What if you are going to do your own business in Malaysia?

Thank you in advance.

Best to check with kastam. If I recall correctly the tax is on their book value of the car, not your purchase price so it'll be 1.95 x ???

Road tax for the car should be around RM2700 per year, not that high.

Yes, the have their own book value. they'll still tax you even though you got your car for free. mad.gif
