hi there roobaroo,
regret to hear that u don't even have at least your international license when u purchase your car. i believe most of us and even myself went to the extend to obtain a UK driving license for our AP application process.
the normal cases that i've heard in regards to rejected ap application is the insufficient duration of car ownership in the UK which is less than 9months. for this cases their car ownership in malaysia has been extended to more than 2 years, I've heard 4 years as opposed to normal ownership of 2 years. For your case, its my first time hearing it.
i reckon the best way is to proceed with appeal letters for a few times. i'm hoping that they will approve your AP with additional conditions such as longer ownership of the car or maybe even permanent ownership of the car if your willing to go to that extend to offer them. you could even try to negotiate to pay a higher tax for the car but i'm not sure whether it could be done. for other method which is abit risky, you could pm me.

Roobaroo,
Yes new MITI regulations stated that you need to have valid driving license in country where you study/work. Last time, malaysian driving license is sufficient. I understand you rarely drove it in ireland but that is the regulation now.
Anyway, if you were in Ireland less than 12 months, you can argue that malaysian driving license is valid to be used there. But if it is more than 12 mths, you need to proceed with the appeal i am afraid. Hope everything goes well for you.
Hi everyone, just an update, I proceed with an appeal to MITI, and yesterday my appeal and application was approved.

Thanks to everyone, esp Kanz1986 and Faizkj for the advices. I though I am going to end up having to do many appeals, but I think I got lucky this time. I hope no one will do the mistake that I have done. Thanks again everyone
