I will be going to UK for a year. From the depreciation table, a >5-year-old and <1.8L car seems to be the most worthwhile to bring back. These are my preferred make for ease of maintenance/service availability back in Malaysia. I am not an avid car fan so would like your opinion. Which make is the most recommended value-for-money?
Mercedes B/C class Ford Fiesta/Focus Honda Insight (taking advantage of the hybrid tax free)
Thanks.

This is from the MITI website:
Malaysian citizens who are eligible to apply: Malaysian citizens studying (have at least obtained a Diploma) or working full time in a company/posted overseas for at least 1 year (except from Singapore, Brunei and Thailand); Government officials studying (except from Singapore, Brunei and Thailand) or working overseas; accompanying spouse of Malaysian citizen studying or working full time in a company/posted overseas for at least 1 year (except from Singapore, Brunei and Thailand); and spouse or children of Government officials and staff of home-based offices working at Malaysian Representatives office overseas.
Spouse can apply AP? It is not very clear -- does it refer to the spouse or the Malaysian citizen who is studying/working overseas?

QUOTE(ougees @ Aug 15 2013, 08:37 AM) Hi, I want to bring in 2012 SUZUKI GSX-R1000 with price AUD 13,900. Can somebody calculate for me the tax? TQ I think some of the senior forummers here have gotten fed up with people taking them for granted when it comes to calculating tax. If you read through the thread, you will be able to derive the tax yourself. Otherwise, send an enquiry to Kastam -- use their website and you will get your answer from the horse's mouth. There is also a website that has an embedded tax calculator but you still need to get some info to fill in the blanks. Good luck!

QUOTE(whyeo6 @ Oct 11 2013, 10:18 AM) Saw someone mentioned buying a toyota 86 from Australia and bringing it back. Can someone help me calculate the tax of bringing back a 2012 toyota 86(purchase price=34,000AUD) when I import it back in 2014 year end? Price of toyota 86 in Malaysia is rm250k and it's around rm200k for a 2nd hand 2012. I wanna see if it's worth or not Repeat: "I think some of the senior forummers here have gotten fed up with people taking them for granted when it comes to calculating tax.
