How did u get 70% off depreciation? not 62%? (small issue, forget it, i m more worried the below issue, please provide some info?)
Q1. So do u mean, i CAN wait till december, result in 10 month ownership (but i am leaving aus in august, and the car kept by sister and wait for shipping in december), apply AP at december, schedule its arrival at january 2010, which can help me get more depreciation.. In short, the question is, is it ok that i go back malaysia first, coz i havent own the car for 9 months, and wait till end of this year and fulfill the requirement of ownership while i am OVERSEA-Malaysia.
Q2. Any idea where can i find the original price of the car? google didnt help much.. wiki don hv price too...
Q3. Also, i am thinking to take the shipping using RORO (not in container), coz i dont hv much furniture or stuff to bring back, and last time, my dad's lexus GS350 import from japan used RORO, not much hassle~ Wat do u guys think?
Q4. May i know why u suggest taking out the rim/valuable stuff (which i assume are sound system)? Is it bcoz ppl might steal it on-board? i seen imported car with stolen headunit during shipping..

Actually the tax upon tax... brings the effective tax to be 221.75%... say 150k (original), depreciation at 5 years, 70% off, ... it will be RM84.8k (before appeal)...
You may want to wait or delay it for another month... say ship in mid dec and for the ship to arrive at around early Jan 2010... they may actually count your car a 6th year (ignoring the age in months).
You may want to replace the rims with cheapo/original or take out/remove valuble stuff and pack separately... all things (big household items,electronics,70/101 inch plasma/lcd, personel stuff/etc) other than the vehicle should be tax free (own for at least a year or 6 mnths)... You may want to take the chance to import stuff with a container together with the car.
In my case the custom officers did not bother to check... I could have could have solid gold/platinium car interior.
