guys - sorry to revive an old thread. need to seek some advice on importing a car from SG> I am a foreigner, whose been staying and working in KL for about a year now. An old buddy of mine in SG will be relocating back to the US and is now trying to dispose most of his stuff, including a car. I was wondering if it's possible for me to export that car to KL? If its possible, should i transfer the ownership of the car to my name in SG first and then proceed with the export papers? Or is it better to export the car to KL and then transfer it to me? Please pardon my questions for I really have no idea how all these is done. Am hoping to find the best and most feasible way to do all this. I have spoken to 2 car dealers and both have said they do not provide such services. OR perhaps I heard wrongly. I don't know. But they were surely trying to sell me a car. Appreciate any good advice and TIA. babisotong liked this post

QUOTE(mustnap @ Jan 20 2016, 01:22 AM) Who's AP you gonna use? That person needs to if i wan t to buy a v spec 2 nur in japan is also the same process but after i study in switerzerland then 5 to 6 years back to japan then work there buy the car then import1. own the car there for at least 9 months (document in the country of origin (UK) under his/her name) 2. has FULL drivers license in the country of origin (UK) 3. has insurance for the car for AT LEAST 9 months prior to the shipment of the car I think that is it. All malaysians studying / working for 1 year or more are entitled to bring a car in once in a life time (one AP per person). Then you need to go to MITI, bring all the documents, and then apply for AP. Once that is settled, need to go to Customs to pay tax and release the car from storage at the port of entry (usually Port Klang). |

AFAIK VSPEC Nur are around 100-120k nowadays and not expected to drop in price as most sellers wait until they pass the threshold of 25years of age, to sell them to the US with a premium |

Import permits are very closely guarded and only issued to limited business men. As these permits involve huge sums of money, it's not issued to any Tom, Dick or Harry , if you get my drift! No surprise on the replies by car dealers. I'd say get in touch with MITI. This post has been edited by SKYjack: Apr 21 2021, 10:47 AM |

QUOTE(Roman Catholic @ Jun 27 2022, 11:05 AM) I don't have a contact to give you. 10 years ago I came back from working overseas on 'Profesional come back scheme' . Happen to come across some info on importing a car during that time. I'm sure a lot has changed now. You could start with MITI. |
