guys, have you all think off if says.

now Toyota 86 is selling at Rm250k

will importing it as new will be cheaper?

or

will importing it says, a recon, 2nd hand unit cheaper?
*
You know what, I'm thinking of the same too. The 86 is much more cheaper in OZ about RM 110k. I prefer to go with the second option, just buy the used 86 which I believe will get even cheaper on the tax as well as the car itself when you want to import it to Mlaysia.

Did a rough calculation... brand new (1 year/9months) it'll save you 50-60k.... 2 to 3 years it may safe you over 100k... compared to the 250k in Mal.

if you buy a 2nd hand it may be at around 100k (in all, tax and cost) when you want to buy/import 3 years later

False and a myth..... though If you get a doctorate and work for 2 years in the related/needed field you can purchase 2 cars in Malaysia tax free, insentive for returning professional.

my dad isnt big on 2nd hand cars cause he thinks there must be a reason they wanna sell it.. sigh.. guess i wont be getting my dream car after all.. sad.gif

There's Never an easy way out of getting dream cars oversea...

Last time i thought of it before... i was worried that if i bought a car oversea.... later not enough money to import back or problems importing back or even after importing back gonna cost whole lot than expected...

I thought of importing back a brand new perdana in UK .... the price seems cheaper getting a national car oversea rclxub.gif ... but scare later import back... plus tax and all that shit.... becomes more expensive than buying it on Malaysia shocking.gif

but when u bring back your car, does ur car tax gets deducted from that country?

let say u buy car from uk , u pay tax there, later u bring back ur car , also kena tax back here. means paying tax for both country. is it? or u buy car in uk without tax , bring back only kena tax?

Nice question. Looking forward to it. smile.gif

Err.. Is it possible if we knew a car dealer that import car from overseas and let the dealer bring it in for us? Also, 3rd image/table posted is not available any longer..

^ you're essentially taxed twice..... or everytime the car is transfered officially through the border...

it's the 2nd image/table not available..... however all 3 in the first post are obsolete

Hi, I have a question
I know that I have to stay up to 1 year and own the car for at least 9 months before I can ship the car back to Malaysia with student AP
However, I heard my friend said AP policy only allows car that up to 7 years old to import back to Malaysia, while my car is 8 years old when I bought it. Does that mean I can't ship it back to Malaysia ?

Please advise.. Thanks

Commercial AP is limited to 5 years.... I believe there's no set limit for personal AP... again contact MITI for the (new) set rules
