Gulf states and the United States are attempting to undermine Iran’s ability to use the strait as leverage by entering and exiting the strait along the Omani coast and by proposing alternative, non-Iranian-controlled transit mechanisms.

The U.S. in now furious that Iran fired on commercial shipping. It revoked the sanctions waivers, and I honestly don’t believe this is over. There is a serious dilemma unfolding, and the U.S. is starting to realize that Iran may not be the “new rational regime” it hoped it would be.
