1st is got knew any mechanic which can deal with this kind of Merc performance ride. This car is not for normal mechanic, due to tight/compact car, a lot of parts need to dissemble just to change or fix so expect higher workmanship and also detail into parts. I have customer which sold their AMG rides due to poor mechanic skill/advice and parts especially sensor keep on got issue due to compatibility (suspect bought oem/imitation parts)

Full service record available? As the standard warranty is only 4 years and it's a 9 years old car. Plus this is a performance ride, thus very likely the previous owner pedal to metal during drive. Just need to gauge the frequency and effects the the moving parts. Plus side is the mileage is low. Con side is age does factor in as well on the condition of moving parts. Can't really advice much without further details on the condition of the car and what has been done throughout the 9 years.

Also maybe enlighten us why the cold feet?

Mileage is very subjective, like example you mention about if the previous owner always pedal to metal during drive even short mileage also can wear a lot... Is better to get a reputable Merc mechanic to check it all out before decide.

Iinm this needs Ron97 as recommended. And ask buddies who own the A45 this gen, expect the FC at 12-15L/100km even with sedate drive.

Ask other said, YOLO. The performance is great

If you love it, and can afford it, BUY IT. Don’t regret. We don’t live forever and don’t know how long we will live.

As long as you can afford it, be a responsible adult with your family obligations, BUY!!!

Edit: damn low mileage. Just check service history what is due — brake rotors gonna cost a bomb, brake pads and suspension parts too. 9 years old… engine mounting, arms etc… will wear due to age.

You better get someone which is pro in Merc to check it out truly, usually good condition car people wont sell out so low unless he need money in short time or the ride got some issue. Check from chassis ( any recent accident repair done), ECU mods, engine modification done and try to ask for test drive with your mechanic & owner it in if possible. (high speed, low speed different kind of driving style)

Recently one of my friend sold off his Golf GTI also in low price due to ECU problem, when driven low speed no issue, but when go highway drive 140~160km/h for long period engine will shut off suddenly, he sent in few time mechanic to fix, from smoke leak test, pressure test and even on-drive OBD data analysis, sent for ECU repair, exchange also cannot fix and sell off fast. The new owner only test drive nearby and bought cash with him and did not notice it, sadly for sure most seller wont tell of their car weakness or issue openly. FYI, no engine fault code found on his ride ya, even the new owner come with OBD reader also cannot detect any fault codes. laugh.gif

Conti model was synonymous with ECU broke down after few years, Mercedes included. Believe due to the placement of the ECU, most model are at the engine bay near the engine hot area, hence it broke down petty easily.

Most E-Class FB community only send ECU repair at reputable tech cz they are someone who offer repair at much cheaper price but not last long. But if Im the owner, will buy new ECU instead. Reason, the issues as u described can happen anytime and I dont want to stranded at the roadside nighttime.

With online power or abroad, can buy ECU new are much acceptable price vs long time ago

The mechanic got use on-drive OBD reading to check all the data while driving, sadly oil press is not one of it.
He suspect is ECU problem as before the new owner took the ride, ECU fail to detect major sensors & unable to start and he emergency sent for repair again (without letting the new owner know), the ECU at least sent to repair 2~3x and he dont want to spend more money to change a new ECU ( as already give up on that ride).
