I understand what you want to say, but in the end my best bet is they can somewhat extend the standby time but I don't think Nokia can do anything *much* when it comes to using the functions.

Unless they drop some hardware support, say, the 3D accelerator (which I doubt they'll remove it but I haven't seen the claim that it has else where).
However since N95 has been improved so much since the first firmware I think N96 can last for a whole day gua.

All in all, yes, we still have to wait until the day it release.

PS: I went to GSMArena to check again the specs, well, as you can see the talk time is not even up to 4 hours...

i agree on this... but then again... you know... n96 has 16gb of internal.. double of ours... not that i am saying ours is not nice...

just stating that it is a revolutionary phone... give it sometime... probably they would launch another n96 32gb or something... haha... battery life would probably last ... but then again...

i am still loving my phone...
Well, I am not saying that N95 8G is not a good phone. It is a very good phone

. And I am not trying to debate on which is the best phone either

. Everyone has their preferences. I am just stating that it is not fair to say that N96 has crappy battery life time and all the negative points about N96 when no one really has the unit and use it yet. It is just all on the paper only for now.
I have credible sources that suggesting N96 is using a totally different hardware than N95/N95 8G/N82. That includes the CPU of the phone, the power management system and even the storage management system. Of cause there are a lot more different in hardware which I just lazy to list. So with all these hardware changes, it might be for good, or who knows it will be getting worst. We will just have to wait and see. Personally I am interested to know how the N96 performs with all the new hardware changes but that ain't mean I am giving up on my N95 though...hahahha
