hmmm which do u recommend to get anyone here got the n95 and upgraded to n95i ?? maybe can give your comment?? like speed, functionality, and is it WORTH the extra rm1k??
*
I don't think it's worth the upgrade from N95 to N95-2 (N95i is the NokLa lol) if you've already have the N95 for some time now. Paying the upgrade only for the slightly bigger screen, extra RAM, extra battery life and 8GB internal memory. But it's all up to you, if I was you I'll upgrade even though it's not worth it...But I was lucky cause I missed the N95 and now the new N95-2 available with *very* reasonable price. biggrin.gif

If you don't have either, there's no reason to not get the 8GB version (at least for me) cause the price difference is only around RM500 for both Ori and AP (where did you calculate RM1k? I thought you want to sell off your used N95).

If you can stick to touchscreen only phone, 500 phonebook entry, and no 3.5mm port (it uses their own dock port), then go for the Viewty. And, there's no image stabilizer for N95, only video stabilizer. Oh yeah, in terms of battery life, N95 8GB is better than N95 classic and I think also the Viewty. As for the Symbian OS and GPS etc that's up to you, I was just comparing what's available between both N95 and Viewty.

It's your purchase after all, so it's all up to you.

tahnx for the quick reply....i am considering the n95i cause of the features u mentioned, sicked of touchscreen, got or dont have also no problems, 3.5 jack is important so for this n95i as it has 8gb can make it like a mini "ipod" rite? built in media player good??

i tot the n95 is rm1800 ori and n95i rm2800 ori also?? isn't that rm1k diff??

noler, jsut wanna get more info..so video stabiliserss how does it actually work?? is it hardware or software? neve seen one before..

oh in the n95 hreaet they mention the new upgrade make the n95 as fast ass n95i i wonder how much diff in speed and how to test it out?? might wanna go NCC to test but any built in program which allow me to test on the speed?

Built in media player is very effecient and good, but won't support much formats of video. But nevertheless, sound quality is quite good.

N95 RM1800 is AP price la, where got so cheap?

I've tried the video stabilizer, no, not quite good, felt uncomfortable. It's software based, still a dedicated camera is better.

In terms of operating speed, both N95 and N95 8GB shares the same specs, just RAM amount different. No need to test so much, you won't need great speed with, er, handphones. sweat.gif However, N95 8GB has been snappy enough to please me.

And, stop mentioning N95i, there's no such thing as N95i unless you are talking about Knock-a-lala (NokLa)... sweat.gif

Yes it affect quite some but not a lot. More RAM will significantly benefit big webpage browsing and multitasking like playing music while surfing webpage and had gallery running in the background etc etc. But most of the time, you won't need that much, really. The most I use is only around 20MB (fresh start around 91.xMB then lowest I've seen is 71MB left). I never use the original N95 so I can't tell you how much difference the extra RAM will make, but definitely having more will be better cause you never know when you'll need it. Again, for the time being, there's no such need...

I think the TV out is independant, display on the TV is not 100% same as display on the phone, like when you adjust volume during video playback the video will shrink temporary but it won't show on the TV. Same as gallery, it'll preview in full screen anytime during browsing the gallery. I think, the TV out displayed at full 640x480 but I could be wrong, but since it's analog out so there's virtually no worry about the resolution anyway.

However, I noticed there's some noise when connected to the TV (like when you had chapalang brand VCD player connected through the TV). Not annoyingly so but I prefer cleaner signal though.

For n95-1 and n95-2,
If u wan big screen+8gb memory,go for n95-2.other than that,no major advantages.for microsd,8gb already available.

bigger battery capacity being used by big screen n double ram,so battery life only a bit better if under heavy usage.

For d ram,wit new firmware on n95-1,i never encounter low memory anymore:) demand paging implemented and my ram never run lower than8mb

Ps:this post typed n posted via n95 on wifi:)

Added on December 9, 2007, 2:52 pmbtw,forgotten1major differences between d2 n95.

8gb version is in black body n do not hav camera lense cover

I did further testing on the TV out. Apparently, the yellow cable which is the video out seems to produce the noise. Not sure if this is normal for you guys but I now find it annoying if playing video with soft volume.

Also, although coreplay seems to play video very well, but I think it's not effecient enough to run together with the TV out. Video stutter sometimes when there's high colour changes between frame to frame. Good for personal watching but not good on TV out. In contrast, the built in Real Player seems to play videos effeciently and output quality seems to be better than coreplay. Do report if you have the same problem with the yellow cable producing the noise. smile.gif

A trick for you guys if you happened to have a video that has for instance japanese language on left and canto on the right side, plug only the white cable if you want japanese, and plug the red cable into the white slot if you want canto (cause if you only plug into the white slot the TV will automatically switch to mono, if you plug the red into the red only the right side got sound and will not switch to mono). wink.gif

Still, coreplay is unbeatable for the functions, really hope the developer will come out with a more effecient player. smile.gif

well, just be careful buying AP phones for the models that has been out for a while... you'll never know what the seller had changed. sweat.gif especially on the N95-1, no matter what, the new authorised set will always have the pouch, if it's not there the seller alredy taken it out. Check the cables, the charger, the battery, I am sure the fake ones are out now... so buying AP N95-1 or N95-2 at this time need to be careful lor.

My personal opinion, if you dont have N95 yet, go for the 8GB version la... it is indeed better than N95-1, altho it's only RAM, screen size, battery juice and black beauty body. They are all significant upgrade. But then, that's my personal opinion la smile.gif

So far only the fingerprints and no shutter camera irks me alot. I played with a friend's N95-1, the smaller screen is obvious la since I used to look at my phone a lot, haha. But N95-1 is looking bit compact and slimmer to the touch, hehe. Also the shutter is very convenient actually, sigh. Only plus point, N95-2 camera is looking very sleek and clean without the shutter, but given option, I would rather have the shutter... my finger keep on landing on the lense when handling the phone liow (texting etc).

@pigcat
I didnt notice the noise... let me try again, maybe it's pretty low noise I didnt realise?

The noise isn't really that loud, I'm not sure if it's cause by the TV. I'll test it later with other TV and report back... smile.gif

Added on December 10, 2007, 12:25 amI've tested on the other TV, same there's noise when the cable is connected. However, it happened with the Astro connector too, which I think it's pretty normal. Also funny thing was when I had the volume tuned up the noise will also getting louder too. Guess I'll just have the phone volume to max the TV at optimized volume then the noise won't be noticeable. laugh.gif
