Yeah, quite a few changes to the application. As per usual turn on Nokia Maps and let it locate the satelites. Mine took about 10-20 seconds on the first time. I am still playing around with the maps functions. Theres even traffic information counter as well. All results are done in Australia, not too sure about malaysia though. A few map displays look a lot like google maps.

Some screenies below:

Upon entering Nokia Maps, i am greeted with this message.

And then when the satelite loads, you will see how many bars on the bottom right corner. The right side shows the (*) and (#) button for zoom levels. The dark red dot means a lock on the location/landmark, in this case its my house.

Type any street name, and press ok (Note: This is done offline, without internet)

And the list of results according to your query.

I don't think it'll be any "better" than N95 8GB function wise, and look at the battery capacity... sweat.gif

Not sure if any of you noticed one thing that I literally fear of - Nokia really drop the God D*mn pen key in all the latest 4 models... doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

Looks like N95 8GB is the last Nokia phone with pen key... doh.gif

Replaced by the # key. Means it's now sharing the function. How it works I don't have a clue but having dedicated pen key certainly doing better.

Well, from paper the N96 battery capacity seems to be bad. But no one really test out the real unit and the real life battery life yet, so it is very hard to say for now. And I do not think it is fair for us to judge Nokia just from the paper. You will never know Nokia might throw in a way better battery management chip inside the new N96. With all the latest semiconductor inside the new N96, the power consumption might be smaller than the current N95 8G. I am pretty sure the engineers in Nokia are paid to do some research. I guess we just have to wait and see.

I understand what you want to say, but in the end my best bet is they can somewhat extend the standby time but I don't think Nokia can do anything *much* when it comes to using the functions. sweat.gif Unless they drop some hardware support, say, the 3D accelerator (which I doubt they'll remove it but I haven't seen the claim that it has else where).

However since N95 has been improved so much since the first firmware I think N96 can last for a whole day gua. hmm.gif

All in all, yes, we still have to wait until the day it release. nod.gif

PS: I went to GSMArena to check again the specs, well, as you can see the talk time is not even up to 4 hours... sweat.gif

i agree on this... but then again... you know... n96 has 16gb of internal.. double of ours... not that i am saying ours is not nice... happy.gif
just stating that it is a revolutionary phone... give it sometime... probably they would launch another n96 32gb or something... haha... battery life would probably last ... but then again... happy.gif i am still loving my phone...
