That's a new firmware for the original N95 instead of N95 8GB so it's not for us

The charges of upgrading firmware for warranty expired / unauthorized phones have always been RM30 which means they'll only be upgrading your firmware for the chinese input thing to work. It can easily be done by just changing the product code of your phone and then upgrade your firmware using Nokia Software Updater. I believe there's a guide in N95 thread to do so. You can change the product code back after upgrading your firmware if you're afraid that It may void your AP warranty.

Ok, lemme show you the screensnap of the navigation license I had. I already activated it... the reason I have it cud also be that my phone is from Singapore because if you check the hardwarezone sg, all N95 8GB users could have the free 3 mths navigation Maybe you guys shud just try it and see if it works for your mobile.

First go to your Maps application, once it loads press Option > Extra Service


Then choose Add Navigation > Accept > Purchase (Don't worry, you are not purchasing when you do this)


Then select Region, I choose South East Asia. When I choose a pop up already said I already have the navigation license for this region.


So I try other regions for example for you guys. (In you guys case, click the South East Asia region, and a page with all the license, period and price will appear) Click Option > Update


In my case, I already activated my upgrade, that is why I got this.


When the first time I did it, instead of above, the screen said that I'll have 3 days trial and 3 mths navigation upgrade. I just click OK and then I automatically got the 3 months voice navigation. I know I dont pay anything because I am not asked to confirm payment etc.

if i want to navigate in china..do i need to download only the map in the nokia map loader or download the voice also?

guys i just updated my phone firmware and now i can type chinese! Region was 68.01 and now same as ash 12.01!

However i got one problem now, it seems that the chinese dictionary has missing database, which was the same when i got my E70's original memory card formated then i was like wtf cannot use anymore...looks like i need to look for the malaysia model's flash memory content.

Anyway i'm really happy now...just left keypad and i'm done...

I think a lot of ppl already got the N95, it was only 7 mths different when they launch N95 8GB, I think a lot of N95 users dont upgrade.


U mean in china u want to use the GPS? U need to download China map first via map loader, if you don't the phone will use your data packet to download. Will cause a lot of money wor... the map is in MB size.

The voice navigation is with license. You need to buy the navigation license for China region to be able to use the voice navigation. If you dont, u can stll navigate, just that it will be like normal maps with directions.


Hmmm, I don't know la like that. You guys sure Malaysia authorised model can get the 3 mths free license e ah? But then... if your phone is AP from Europe, maybe the navigation license if for Europe region lor?

Yeah just the keypad (no stroke symbols) so if i had the keypad replaced with the original one then i have a fully converted original set.

Regarding the dictionary i'm not sure cause it used to be a hidden data and i think they change the format and make it downloadable via website. I'll check it out, thanks for the tips!

I've asked the nokia people about keypad replacement, they can do it but they don't sell it, so it's either bug comsat to replace it or let nokia replace but warranty void. I'll use the phone for a while first then only see if it need to change.

By the way i been to pavilion today also, and been to the nokia store. I've played around with the original N95, i was so suprised how bad the slides was, when in the middle position the upper part doesn't fit snugly, you can press and the edge and you can actually press down 0.5mm further!! Thank god mine very solid!

you can use Total video Converter from EffectMatrix Inc to convert almost any sort of video files and even to extract out the audio .
By the way pigcat , the berjaya NCC you mention is the Berjaya opposite the Times Square one ar? which floor?

Ermm can i convert DVD movies to MP4 movies with that??
