I'm going to change the keypad next week, just saw this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOqtkIERl4U&feature=related

Apparently changing keypad doesn't require ANY screw driver! So most likely the AP warranty won't be affected me guess, most likely they won't know... laugh.gif

EDIT: It seems that disassemble the N95 will destroy many thing and has to be replaced according to the video...Hmm...Then must prepare many spare parts I guess...I think that also explained why some people has this and that cannot function after repairing... hmm.gif

EDIT2: I must applaud Nokia for taking care the AV connector as well, they made it replaceable anytime so when the connector loosen one can replace it without soldering... rclxms.gif

Both the stock and the latest version has been stable for me and no hanging. However I did experienced stupid phone restart due to insert headphones halfway receiving calls as well as playing videos/games, almost everytime. Can live with that but it could be better though. Oh and the chinese<->english dictionary is missing, I was only able to play it for a day or 2 then update firmware it disappeared. I tried install the N73's dictionary that Mr. Lonely suggested, it's available on the nokia website but it asked me to install the base or something first, so still no luck.

*
Select "Maps" then wait to load up. Then you'll see the bottom right side got traffic lights, if yellow light flashing means GPS is trying to search satellite. Have to wait until it locks, first time will take very long. Mine virtually cannot lock for the first 2 days...

Hmm the previous one got? You mean the N/W position? I do find including the shortcut to the "GPS data" really handy, I'll have to go through the menus to open it...

Or did you mean the plus sign when locked? It'll appread when locked...Then press "0" the cursor will automatically locked to the current position.

erm... it uses GPRS to locate our position?
*
Disable any network accessing, it'll just drain your battery even more quickly. Internet access is needed cause need to load the map when you scroll assume if the user never install any maps. Since you already install, no need GPRS/3G/WiFi.

No, when the GPS is locked on, a plus sign will appear on where you are. Then, when press "0", the square cursor will follow the plus sign and will remain locked in the middle of the screen while you're moving. There'll be nothing when the GPS is not locked on...

when you writting a message, and you wish to use chinese charecter...
do you need to change the language before typing the text?
like the typical nokia phone??

Haha because it's a very best multimedia phone at the moment of course tempting lo...

Typing chinese with Symbian S60 has been very much improved. While typing sms and you want chinese typing in the middle of the task, simply press the pencil button and you can choose input language on the fly, very convenient! thumbup.gif

i ordered this casing... what do you guys think?

Actually I think this one is a bit cacat in the design, I can imagine how the flip will distract the left side use when you have your phone in landscape mode. sweat.gif

Nevertheless, it's a really cool looking leather case but I'd prefer the one can flip horizontally than vertically (featured in allaboutsymbian) although it's only meant for N95-1, but according to missgeek it fits...Hmm actually horizontal flip also can distract vertical usage hoh...

EDIT: Just found out it's an original Nokia leather case, model CP-235

Actually I think the best is no case at all, maybe I buy this one http://www.shieldzone.com , some thing like martin field but with full body protection, I'll order it in the next housing change (use it for a while first) cause now already got scratch marks at the back... sweat.gif

That is when you had the chinese input enabled. Also if in chinese input mode the english input will be locked at either T9 or ABC mode (which is what it was before changing to chinese input). So if english only I'd change to english input mode. Just press the pencil button and select then gao dim, no need to go through menus again... laugh.gif

More battery life report, since last charge that's 36 hours ago, with "GSM only" enabled, few short calls, few sms, video shooting for under 5 minutes, 10minutes music/video playback, now still remain full bar... shocking.gif

I thought I'd just confirm by switch off the phone and on again so it should be accurate, still full bar...I'm happy with the battery... biggrin.gif

Why not? I've already did heavy usage test, now just want to test if very light usage how long it can last...Also forgot that I took several photos with flash...

Also I felt switching to GSM only can have longer battery life... laugh.gif

I want to ask if you can surf well in starbucks,or any wifi spots outside since P1i only supports 802.11b connection?
*
Surfing at starbucks is a pleasure with N95 8GB, the reception is really good and surfing really smooth. In contrast, my E70 seems to always suffer, even it support WiFi G, connection drop outs, turtle speed, etc. WiFi B is actually more than enough, it's just the reception more important.

Can't help you mate, if I take out battery then cannot take pictures liao...Don't have extra camera at the moment. However you can scratch off the black ink on top of the battery and check the number at nokia website to see if it's original. smile.gif

Plus i won't carry extra memory card around even a pouch has card slot, i've experienced how troublesome it is when the extra card hilang or dropped unaware...

I have a question: Hmm.... can we go to NCC and ask to change the casing? The whole casing? Can ah?
Do any of you knows how much? Ori casing la... dont want the imitation one.
*
Hehe I posted the similar link for you earlier... laugh.gif

You can check out the seller's other item, he seems to sell the whole housing too, but, roughly RM300+- for full housing...Maybe the seller sell expensive lo... blink.gif

Hmm did you had your network remained dual mode? Your battery life seems to be even longer than mine...Mine only can achieve more than 3 and 1/2 full day with GSM only, going to test with dual mode again... laugh.gif

QUOTE(missgeek @ Dec 3 2007, 05:19 PM)
Hmmm, I think the better your reception coverage, the longer your battery will last? Hmm.. let's look at it by logic tongue.gif
If you put dual mode the phone doesnt strain to get either reception, if cannot this and then use the other one...
while if you only put 1 mode (either GSM or UMTS), the phone has to work a bit more scanning the reception? Cos it only uses one?
Hehehe, dunno la, this one is not back up by any technical explanation la, me clever2 think logic only. biggrin.gif
But I also wonder how come my battery can tahan la... but as you see, I don't fully utilise the multimedia functions of the phone for the last 3 days, I believe the battery will last very long if you dont use the multimedia function so much... the screen brigtness, dual mode etc is insignificant in battery consumption, IMHO.
*
Hmm after more readings about the UMTS and GSM, I interprete it in a way that the phone will not connect to both network, when in dual mode, the phone will fetch the 3G network as priority, then will switch to GSM when 3G is weak/not available. So in dual mode, the phone should consume more power IF the reception is unstable and constant flipping between both network. So it might be your area has very good reception and stayed on only 1 network most of the time. I could be wrong though but I live up on the hill where phone network often weaker than normal so maybe in dual mode my phone will consume more power to switch between both network constantly. That said, that's just my interpretation... hmm.gif

Anyway I think mine also powerful enough to last, I forgot I actually had the phone fully charged at 3am of thursday night (that is, 3am of friday), then only left 2 bars last midnight (which is around 70 hours), and finally the battery drained off and totally empty this noon 12pm with several photo shots, 10 mins of video playback, as well as 10 mins of WiFi. laugh.gif

hey , i wanna ask u all . When your phone is on power saving mode , when unlocking the phone . The LCD will flicker a little then no more flickering ? Im having this symptoms . Anybody else too ? Only happen when i unlock from Power Saving Modes ( After a Long Time in PS mode ).
*
The flickering only happened in the power saver. Try to set the backlight auto off to like 10sec and power saver at 5 sec (which should activated before the light goes off). Mine the screen is flickering as like when you set your computer monitor to very low refresh rate (60hz or lower). I guess that's also part of the power saving as the screen doesn't need too frequent refreshing of the screen. But that's kinda weird, I thought it's something broken when I first got the phone, after update the firmware sitll the same... hmm.gif
