Hi.

I have few question regarding the acoustic guitar. Just playing for hobby.

1. How do you take care of the strings in malaysian climate? I'm talking about the 2 last strings, they always become rusty / not fun to use after a week. Did cleaning the strings and use string oil, doesn't seem to do much.
2. Where to go to try guitar? I'm interested to try one of those hybrid nylon string guitar with thinner neck.
3. I like the sound from silk & steel strings, but it's rather too squeaky. Any string that sounds the same but less squeak?

just playing guitar for fun.

yes i have considered ball end nylon string on the guitar. i only have some random no brand cheap classical with me at the moment, the more spacious fretboard feels much easier to play fingerstyle and nylon strings feels a lot more effortless, but I like the neck to be slimmer. sometimes feels rather too cramped with acoustic neck.

1. use coated strings, such as elixir with nanoweb. after playing, wipe the strings dry, then use fast fret to clean and lubricate them.

2. bentley music at bukit bintang, opposite swee lee at lot 10.

3. don’t know the answer to this question, but fyi, silk & steel strings are not coated.

Does the last 2 strings are coated too? I used elixir nanoweb last month, it still quite good compared to silk steel string.

1. Since you're already using Elixir, I don't know where the rust come from. It does oxidize but it does not rust, its mostly bronze.
2. You can try Swee Lee, which is at Bangsar area, can try Bentley Music too.
3. You're already using Elixir which is quite good, probably the best. If squeaking is a problem, you can buy lubricant for the strings that you can wipe on and prolong the lifespan of the strings.

i've tried multiple ways. In the end, what i choose to do is just wipe the strings after playing. And change the strings once every 2 weeks.

That literally is the best approach for me. But it costs more.

Wipe it with plain cloth before and after playing. Restring your guitar regularly.

Go to your friend's house that have a guitar?

3. I like the sound from silk & steel strings, but it's rather too squeaky. Any string that sounds the same but less squeak?

practice more, you can learn to play without the squeakiness over time

don't start with nylon, beginners should start playing with normal strings aka standard gauge
