I needed a prepaid debit card to link online for some purchases and also using it for physical purchases in hypermarket, supermarket and stores.
Online purchases mostly shopee and lazada and some sites for some software and hardware things I needed to purchase. Sometimes also grocery shopping too. So anyone using MBB prepaid debit card? Any requirement beside being MY and ablove 18 years age?
One person can apply how many MBB prepaid card? I am not qualify for credit card.

Maybank ATM card is a debit card, you can just use it for online and physically purchases as long as you have money in your account

Never use ATM card hybrid as it is tied to your bank account. If never set a limit, scammers may drain the account easily.
Always used a dedicated debit card reloaded with a certain amount. That way, if kena scam, u only lose the reloaded amount not the entire bank account balance.
Example is MAE. It not tied to your MBB account and u need to reload it before use. I used this mainly for AliExpress purchases.
Once the transaction is successful, I will freeze the card.

There's no such thing as Prepaid Debit Card.
Only Debit or Credit Cards.

Better just use Wise card (prepaid debit card), don’t expose ur bank debit card (directly linked to your savings account)
Best is to get a cc

QUOTE(heinlein @ Dec 22 2025, 09:33 AM) Open maybank saving acc by default give you debit card liao But that card is linked to your savings account. If that card is compromised, so does everything in your savings. Thus why I use MAE card instead. Anything happened to it and only few hundreds in my mae is at risk. Since MAE is treated as own account, topping up is more convenient compared to topping up an external account/wallet.

I turn off all my debit card function eversince my debit card is unauthorized used in overseas transaction. Only withdraw money from atm

You basically have to sacrifice functionality to safeguard your savings. A second account like mae acts as a floodgate to limit risk while still enjoying convenience. Of course, ideal solution is a credit card but for those who cant, its a very good alternative.

Why some of you all make it so complicated?
If you have 3 bank accounts with different banks, just set 1 bank to use mainly for online transactions. Just transfer certain amounts and perform the online transaction.
No need to sign up for that bullshit prepaid debit card.
I have 4-5 bank accounts. One of them is Hong Leong Bank that I use mainly for online transaction. Public Bank to receive salary. Maybank for short term saving and other banks for other stuffs.
