will this affect NVME SSD disks? hmm.gif

SK Hynix has reportedly warned that the global supply of commodity DRAM will remain tight until at least 2028, a situation that could translate into higher prices for consumer hardware.

According to TechPowerUp, the memory maker shared this outlook during a recent internal company meeting, signalling a significant shift from how the industry has traditionally responded to demand surges.

The company expects the prolonged constraint to affect mainstream memory products such as DDR4 and DDR5 system RAM, GDDR6 and GDDR7 graphics memory, as well as LPDDR5x and LPDDR6 used in laptops and mobile devices.

These DRAM types are core components for desktop PCs, notebooks, game consoles, and GPUs, placing consumers and gamers squarely in the firing line if prices continue to rise.

SK Hynix reportedly does not plan to expand production capacity for these products as aggressively as it has in previous cycles, even as inventories tighten.

all items requiring DRAM chips will be affected... CRUCIAL already being chopped by parent company as the 1st sacrificial lamb in the new AI chase... haiz...

Let unker set you straight as unker laso just learn this a few days ago.

What is the shortage - DRAM Chips (RAM MODULE) and NAND Chips (SSD)

why Shortage - Manufacturer earn more by shifting to industrial Chips rather than consumer chips - High-Bandwidth Memory (HBM) chips & Server-Grade DRAM (RDIMM)

So for your question, Yes, because they dont produce anymore NAND Chips.

Windows 10 can run with 4GB, runs quite well with 8GB. Windows 11 crawls with 4GB, and runs minimally at 8GB. You really do need 16GB for Windows 11. But the vendors are going to cut back and sell Win 11 with 8GB in the next few years. People gonna rage and convert it to Linux which needs less memory.
