Roomba maker iRobot has filed for bankruptcy and will be taken over by its Chinese supplier after the company that popularized the robot vacuum cleaner fell under the weight of competition from cheaper rivals.

The US-listed group on Sunday said it had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Delaware as part of a restructuring agreement with Shenzhen-based Picea Robotics, its lender and primary supplier, which will acquire all of iRobot’s shares.

Once bankrupt, the cloud services also offline.

Perfect time to mod into an RC vacuum cleaner now.

Company too complacent, malas to innovate.

Ended up cheaper products by China are better than the high price products

In the end is just a vacuum machine. Apa lan can innovate.

I also use roborock, I have to literally clear the mess on the floor and curate a perfect environment for the shit to start moving.

Still will stuck somewhere sometimes. I rather do the rest myself takes less than 15mins, cleaner and better.

Recently talked to another friend who bought Roborock 1 year earlier than me. Said same thing also, already very used to clean shiny floor. If robot no run really cannot tahan. 3 years already still jalan.

Meaning you still stuck with old robot. New robots can help pick up stuff for you. And own cleaning.

Spending another 5k 6k? Nah....
At some point these super gimmick romba just don't justify their cost.

Not to mention u need to clean them out time to time. I know there are self emptying, there is no 0 work romba.

I buy some zap mak cordless vacuum rm 250 from shoppe, that shit worked for 3 years and still going strong.
