there are many spanish loan words in tagalog, and in mindanao many speak chavacano (otherwise known as broken spanish). the island of Jolo's name was derived from the hokkien phrase "ho lo" meaning good to have a conversation with, cos the natives were very easy-going and amenable to negotiation with traders from fujian. the spelling was changed by the spanish to suite their language's ways.
many pinays do not speak any "real" spanish, but they do go kilig and malibog if u can sing spanish songs
