A woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki area died after a quack doctor performed her kidney stone surgery while watching a YouTube video. The doctor, while being intoxicated, failed to remove the stones from her kidney and instead cut multiple nerves in her stomach, small intestine, and oesophagus, which resulted in her death. A case has been registered against the fake doctor and his associate.

The victim, identified as Munishra Rawat, experienced severe abdominal pain on December 5. Her husband, Fateh Bahadur, took her to Shri Damodar Aushadhalaya, an unauthorised clinic at Barabanki. Gyan Prakash Mishra and Vivek Mishra owned the clinic, and Gyan Prakash identified that the woman’s pain was caused by a kidney stone. Prakash suggested a surgery in exchange for Rs 25,000, which was later settled at Rs 20,000.

The next day, Prakash started operating while watching a YouTube video. He was intoxicated, and as a result, he cut several nerves, making deep incisions in the woman’s abdomen. The day after, Munishra died, suffering from heavy pain.

Following her death, Mishra and her family fled, leaving the woman in her condition.

Fateh Bahadur lodged a complaint at the local police station, and upon learning of the incident, the police soon rushed to the spot and inspected the scene. Her body was sent for a post-mortem, and the police also registered a case against both owners, Gyan Prakash Mishra and Vivek Mishra, under charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and the SC/ST Act.

Talking about the incident, a senior police official, Amit Singh Bhaduria, noted, “Upon learning about the incident, we inspected the unauthorised clinic. We found it closed and hence issued a notice. The accused are presently on the run; however, they will be arrested soon.”

Actually, UP, like other northern states like Bihar, etc, have some of the lowest education rate in India. The people there behave like barbarians, actually. High school students go to the examination hall with knives out on the table to warn the invagilators, while they take books or papers to copy the answers. The government able to be in power due to their influence over the huge uneducated population.

Not unlike how PAS is able to control over the poor, less (non-religious) educated Kelantan over here.
