Pihak pendakwaan telah menarik balik rayuan terhadap keputusan Mahkamah Tinggi Kuala Lumpur tahun lalu yang membebaskan Rosmah Mansor daripada 12 pertuduhan pengubahan wang haram yang melibatkan RM7 juta dan lima pertuduhan gagal mengisytiharkan pendapatannya kepada Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN).

Notis yang dilihat oleh Malaysiakini menunjukkan penarikan balik rayuan itu dibuat pada 9 November, yang kemudiannya bermaksud rayuan itu terbatal, seperti yang diperuntukkan di bawah Peraturan 73 Peraturan Mahkamah Rayuan 1994.

Peguam Rosmah, Hussein Ahmad Jamaluddin, memberitahu Malaysiakini, ketika dihubungi, bahawa Rosmah dan pasukan pembelaannya gembira dengan perkembangan itu.
Rosmah sebelum ini didakwa dengan kesalahan tersebut pada 2018, sebelum memohon untuk membatalkan pertuduhan tersebut pada tahun 2023.

Hakim K Muniandy, yang telah dinaikkan pangkat ke Mahkamah Rayuan, telah membebaskan Rosmah pada Disember tahun lepas, selepas mendapati bahawa pertuduhan tersebut tidak mendedahkan elemen utama kesalahan pengubahan wang haram.

Selain kes ini, Rosmah mempunyai perkara yang belum selesai di Mahkamah Rayuan di mana dia merayu terhadap sabitan bersalahnya serta hukuman penjara 10 tahun dan denda RM970 juta dalam kes rasuah yang dikaitkan dengan projek tenaga hibrid solar RM1.25 bilion.

Rosmah juga merayu terhadap keputusan Mahkamah Rayuan yang menolak permohonannya untuk mengenepikan hakim Mohamed Zaini Mazlan, yang mempengerusikan kes rasuahnya dan mensabitkannya.

A notice of appeal was filed on Dec 20, 2024, a day after Justice K Muniandy ruled that the charges against the wife of former prime minister Najib Razak were illegal and flawed as they did not comply with provisions in the Criminal Procedure Code.

“The charges amounted to duplicity and multiplicity. Furthermore, they did not disclose any offence,” Muniandy had said.

Muniandy, who is now a Court of Appeal judge, had said the money laundering charges were defective as they only revealed that Rosmah had deposited money into her account at Affin Bank Bhd.

Surely if prosecution can raise enough suspicion how she cannot explain the source of money going into her personal account there's a criminal case to be made.
It's a money laundering charge, people concerned about where you get the sizeable amount of money. Unless dalam court sudah got some explanation on her tabung math.

Thanos is anything if not thorough and ruthless

Him layering his biggest 2 enemies with multiple charges is his way of guranteeing nothing can game them from going to jail. Change of govt, deep state etc, all this can scupper a case. this is probably his way of hedging his bets

So...if some charges "may" be defective i can live with it. we live in an imperfect world, Thanos knows it hence he also plays just as dirty as needed to win.

So nah, i'm not gonna fault him even if he pushed thru some less than solid charges.
