QUOTE(kmrdeva @ Dec 11 2025, 08:39 AM) I smell bullshit. Used Thai data esim when traveling in Thailand and my same phones get better 5G speeds there. note i said possible causes. did you check what signal strength in dbm you were gettin eh According to Opensignal's recent analysis from September 2025, Malaysia has the faster 5G download and upload speeds compared to Thailand. A November 2022 report explicitly stated that Malaysian users had 172.2% higher average 5G download speeds than Thai users. like i said user problem !

they are just an access seeker why do they want to prioritise 5G by paying it when they can keep their users with their 4G network that can browser faster than 5G

in DNB doc say
Minimum Guaranteed Speed: When connected to the general Malaysian 5G network (run by DNB), a minimum speed of 100 Mbps is guaranteed. Your speed will likely be much higher than this minimum in a coverage area.
Average Speeds: Opensignal reports show U Mobile users experience average 5G download speeds of around 274 Mbps.
this is much faster than 4g average speed of about 26 Mbps.

QUOTE(Baconateer @ Dec 11 2025, 09:17 AM) basically telcos are making the 5G worse intentionally. if true, this would mean that all these reports of higher speed and better performance should be taken with a big kilo of salt.

QUOTE(kmrdeva @ Dec 11 2025, 07:39 AM) I smell bullshit. Used Thai data esim when traveling in Thailand and my same phones get better 5G speeds there. was it indoor? Thai 5G uses 700MHz spectrum, which can serve indoor easily, but the data is a lot slower compared to higher frequency. DNB also granted 700MHz, but I guess they haven't deployed yet, so far only the 3.5GHz, which is hard for indoor usage. TL. DR., you can't beat physics. Both TH indoor and outdoor was better than my experience with 5G in Malaysia.
