PETALING JAYA: PAS says it is ready to hold a dialogue with MCA to clarify any misunderstandings about the party.

This came after MCA rejected the possibility of joining Perikatan Nasional because of PAS’s presence in the opposition coalition.

MCA president Wee Ka Siong yesterday ruled out the possibility of joining PN after stating that the Chinese community found it difficult to accept PAS due to controversial remarks by the Islamic party’s leaders which touched on the sensitivities of non-Muslims.

In response, PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari reminded MCA today that it had previously cooperated with PAS in the PN government and is familiar with PAS’s approach to governance.

“During that period, there was never any major conflict between PAS and MCA that escalated into open disputes. This is different from what we see among the current ruling parties, which often engage in unproductive public debates,” said Fadhli in a statement.

“That experience of joint administration should serve as a basis for understanding that PAS is not a party that is hostile towards any race or religion.

“On the contrary, it consistently chooses negotiation and harmony to resolve differences. PAS’s door is always open for dialogue if there are any misunderstandings or doubts.”

At MCA’s general assembly yesterday, Wee said PAS needed to carry out internal reforms with the aim of making itself more moderate and acceptable to Malaysia’s plural community if PN were to attract non-Muslim parties.

He said MCA was fully aware that the Chinese community did not view PAS in a positive light.

“In fact, they reject the party,” he said.

In September, PN secretary-general Azmin Ali confirmed that the coalition had held informal discussions with MCA and MIC, both of which are components in Barisan Nasional.

However, he said it was too early to tell whether the discussions would lead to the parties joining PN.

True, as much as PAS is entertaining us with their failures here and there

I gotta say that PAS is very diligent and some may even say smart when it comes to politicking

Agree with your points 1, 2, 3, 5

Not sure about since these are generally public perception, but 6 .. If MCA have learned anything from DAP, they would refrain from continuing to become one

*But as always, due course in politics demands that one bow to the other*

PAS very smart he knows MCA very rich got RM 3bil in asset machinery funding all MCA members can help pas in terms of money and strong grassroots. Pas voters will vote for MCA member but MCA members will not vote for PAS. Very clever move by PAS to kill off MCA once and for all😁🤣

Atleast MCA said it out loud the truth about non's perception about PAS.

Indirectly, MCA draw a line on what need to be take to join PN, now is up to PAS la...

But from the way I see it, I don't think PAS realized that fact even after all this while though.

Be it as it may, but the facts remains that majority of the nons really reject PAS outright.

Perhaps PAS, like UMNO and PKR, although already in politic for so long, didn't realize that when you are in a coalition, what ever you do will surely impact your other party in your own coalition as well...

What UMNO did, affect MIC to dust and MCA to merely 2 seats now, what PKR did, affect and give total defeat to DAP at Sabah now...And what PAS did, further reduced Gerakan to nothing but a laughing stock (even though it already is).

Sure some of the blames must on MCA, DAP and Gerakan themselves as well, but that's what happened when the dominant party in a coalition being selfish and do things without considering other party future. You can't expect your coalition party to work on its own to woo their target voters support when you doing the exact opposite to please your own target voters while sacrificing other group.

It always goes both way.

So from the way I see it, UMNO really hopeless in this, for PKR let's wait and see, and PAS...doesn't understand this yet either.

That is how MCA squeeze dry government’s coffer every year in the name of education but in actual fact monies go to project for their cronies & proxies own pocket as well their members companies. Got RM 585.58 million in cash and bank balances refuse to use but put in FD for their own members.

1 year squeeze from government = RM 100m
10 years = RM 1b
20 years = RM 2b

Now you know why many k macai support MCA🫢😁🤣

Nons very short memory. Not politically mature and aware enough. Too focused on money and business and not power. Very naive and kena game all the time.

Mamakthir was the devil incarnate to them for decades. Within few short years can vote mamakthir back to power during PH1.0, now back to public enemy number 1 again.

Can vote PAS during pakatan rakyat days. Now apparently devil incarnate. Who knows how soon that perception can change again.

More lalang than lalang.

That's why always led by the nose by the dominant Malay party of the day. It might be PAS soon.
