Woke got different meanings, in the sense that Star Trek has always been progressive, yes.

Woke as its used by most people are pejorative is referring to the preachy/naggy nature of how its forcing progressive values down people's throats. It was really bad in Discovery.

In shows like TNG, the matters were explored, let the audience come to terms with the themes themselves. It was more subtle story telling, instead of driven by ideology trying to propagandize itself.

There was a video once

Damn can't remember the keywords

It was showing the difference between TNG and that short form Short Treks. How to treat different folks with differing opinions

Picard acted with brains and incorporated the awkward member into the team. The short treks ostracised the fella and later lol when he died implying he pandan mukak

Old trek did it better

After rewatching yeah this but with added commentary and critique

Probably another guy shared this and added his own thoughts

Really jarring right?

Old trek (Technically TNG is new la) did inclusivity better. Dont ostracise the weirdo there are ways to accommodate them without pandering vs Short Trek Gen Z attention spans
