Although he managed to get up afterwards, he collapsed shortly after; employees and other gym-goers immediately provided assistance, and the man was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day. The gym stated in a message that it provided immediate assistance and expressed deep condolences to the family, saying that Ronald will be remembered with respect and love. The funeral took place at the Morada da Paz cemetery in Paulista.
