He has always wanted PAS to join to support his Islamic agenda. But PAS refused cos they cannot work with DAP and vice versa.

thats y follow Taiwan national lottery system where the lottery ticket is the receipt!
if the small shop don't follow this, people automatically will visit other shop that have because to enter the lottery is free. it is just the number from your receipt.

the actual reason for e-invoice is that

due to tax haven status, tax leave , tax holidays given to mega multi national and local GLCs,

Or as known to people in the know, companies with crony and familial relationships

government need to source tax revenue from small and micro enterprises , to create funds required to fund development subsidies , and interest-free loans for these very entities , and of course to extend these periods of tax holidays

that is the truth

everything else is BS
*
That’s why we need GST. Most transparent and efficient tax that involved everyone. Spend more, pay more taxes. No need to have LVGT, digital tax etc. everyone saves (sic!) the country by paying consumption tax, even tourists. But someone and some parties just went to town and sang ABCDGST…. Takkan they want to lick own phlegm!!!! But they don’t mind licking atuk and Anwar la… 😉
E-invoice is a complementary system to track those who tries to evade taxes, even after GST is implemented It does not directly contribute to improve taxation collection, unlike GST. The only party that gains from e-invoice are the software companies (assuming the businesses install the software systems). Otherwise, it is just manual entry using LHDN software which is v v manual and tedious data entry.

I disagree. GST means all of us have to tanggung. E-invoice let them catch the tauke try run tax. I pay enough tax, no thanks.
*
Well, the intention of e-invoice is to monitor your spendings vs your LHDN, assuming you have one. It does not contribute directly to our gov coffers as no monetary is involved that flows directly to the gov coffers, unlike GST where u spend u pay tax.
If you pay your taxes diligently, then e-invoice does not affect you as a consumer or business owners. If you don’t pay taxes as per regulations, the e-invoice is one of the mechanism to detect that. That’s why Gov targeted those at >150k income cos these are those that likely do not pay taxes or under declare. They can track your expenses vs your declaration. If you live beyond your means of taxation, then LHDN can come and pay you a visit. So with e-invoice, you are still paying the same amount of taxes unless u evade taxes.

The 1M treshold defeat the whole purpose of einvoice.  All small and micro enterprises manage to evade it.
*
Exactly. Those who under declare but spend laviously beyond their declared income cannot be detected. And there arw are a lot of them.

That's fair enough for me. I don't have that many to run. This is more for the SMEs using cash base to evade detection.

GST otoh, I have to pay no matter what. Not with standing all the stupid exemption which nobody can keep track on. Imagine, zero tax on sugar but you order coffee which has gst. How to calculate? I don't, the tauke don't, so just add 6% to everything.

If you really want GST then no exemptions, no zero rated. Everything and your underwear same tax. Anyway, no more GST talk, already moot. If Madani bring back GST, they will certainly be a 1 term gov. Ktard prediction.
*
Well, if we want a consumer taxation systems, then GST is more efficient than SST. If fact, there are talks that the SST now is edging closer to GST but less efficient and transparent and not fair as only certain segment of the population gets taxed. GST, everyone pays taxes, though not via LHDN. The concept is you spend, you pay. Fair systems unlike SST.
If the gov is serious about a fair and efficient consumer tax system, it shd implement GST. It is good for the nation. Najib knew that and implemented it despite all the BS ABDCGST taunts and what-nots. It is good for the country. So if good governance is what Ph2.0 is about, then implement it.

perhaps GST had the claim back issue that made the entire system hated... i think they should implement in stages without claim back.. first b2b at a certain rate..so importer to wholesalers...manufacturers to wholesalers..
then wholesalers to distributors... filtering down..
the implementation through the entire chain at once, created the confusion
*
Exactly. Any large system implementation will have its issues, not withstanding this is a nation wide launch affecting practically all segment of the population. And this is not helped by the oppo constant fake news prices increases, Tony Pua with his GST price increases, canned sardine kena GST but lobster don have, etc. and the effectiveness of the refund system is also an issue but then, there were rumours that most of the affected companies are not doing the GST right or try to underpay again etc. still I am a huge proponent for GST. Everyone pays taxes, everyone contributes to the gov coffers. Simple as that.

I suppose they are afraid of the karma of what they did to GST1.0 that they are afraid to revert to GST. GST has got a bad name after all the BS/fake news created by them.

Actually the only reason is because the west wants to do it, so everyone else must follow.

Try not doing it and see what happens in the future. Only USA can act different. The rest gonna get a low score from the west rating agency for being outdated. Ready for a rating downgrade? tongue.gif
The world:
1. European Union – ViDA and Country-Specific Mandates
2. United States – Voluntary Adoption on the Rise
3. Latin America – A Pioneer in E-Invoicing
4. Asia-Pacific – Rapid Expansion of E-Invoicing
5. Middle East & Africa – Steady Progress in Compliance

You want to escape then go to Antarctica
*
I think our ratings was downgraded long time ago. But GST really helps because the % of tax paying citizens are too small to cover gov expenditures. We need more citizens and visitors to pay taxes, hence GST.

Do not disagree with that. Many people are upset cos they already invested in the hardwares only to be told no need….
